Speaker Profile Dr Chang Kok Meng is a specialist in Periodontology. He received his postgraduate training in the National University of Singapore and also became a Member in Restorative Dentistry of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Dr Chang was subsequently awarded a government scholarship to receive further training in Oral Medicine at the Eastman Dental Institute in London. Past research that Dr Chang has been involved with include dental materials, periodontal disease, halitosis and oral medicine. His special interests lie in dental implants, tissue regeneration surgeries and the management of oral mucosal disease.

It has often been said that the oral cavity is a mirror to a person's systemic health. Likewise, the gingivae tells a story that the dental professional can read. Early signs of systemic diseases can and do manifest on the gingivae. Dental professionals are therefore often the first to detect many diseases that might have a huge impact on patients' well being. This talk gives an overview of gingival manifestations of systemic diseases and provides tips on early recognition and intervention for your patients.
