Drip Versus Soaker SystemsDRIPis a miniature sprinkler system that waters individual

plants. Drip sprinklers range in spray distance from 0 to 15 feetand emit water from to 30 gallons per minute, allowing gar-deners to tailor systems to meet each plants needs. Drip systemsare great for flower gardens, xeriscape gardens, container plants,trees, and shrubs and can be connected to any outdoor faucet orretrofitted to a new or existing underground sprinkler system.

SOAKERsystems are designed to saturate the soil in a desig-nated area. Water weeps from the tubing and is soaked up by thesurrounding soil to gently water delicate plants. There are twotypes of soaker emitters: soaker hose and sprinkler hose. Soakerhosegently discharges water from holes all around the tubing.Sprinklerhosegently discharges water from holes on the sides ofthe tubing, but also sprays water up to 10 feet from holes locat-ed on the top of the hose. Soakersystems are used for flower and

vegetable gardens, professional landscaping, and any other veg-etation planted in close proximity to each other. Soakersystemscan be connected to any outdoor faucet or retrofitted to a new orexisting underground sprinkler system.

Flat soaker tubing does two things: It seeps water into surround-ing soil, and sprays streams of water up to ten feet from the hoseto reach surrounding plants.

Individual lengths of soaker hose or tubing should never exceed 100 in length. One faucetcan operate up to six individual 100 lengths.

A soaker system should ALWAYS be installed with a pressure reducer at the water source.Water pressure should not exceed 25 psi, or the life cycle and performance of your soaker hosewill be greatly reduced. The manufacturer of this product is not liable for incidental or con-sequential damages as a result of any misuse or defect of the product.

Helpful Tips & GuidelinesFor optimal water efficiency and plant health, water in the

morning and less frequently for longer duration. Frequent

watering leads to shallow plant roots.

Soaker

To maintain even watering, soaker hose should not be

extended beyond 100 feet from the water source.

A single faucet can operate a total of up to 600 feet of soaker

hose. This is a combined total of all soaker hose no greater

than 100 feet in length from each outlet.

Soaker hose will water plants in loose, sandy soil up to 8

inches from each side of the hose; plants in hard, clay-like

soil must be within 12 inches of the hose.

Soaker hose is best used above ground or covered with

mulch. Hose may be buried up to 4 inches deep if necessary,

but is discouraged as it is more difficult to monitor watering

and hose can be damaged by unseen roots or digging.

Mini soaker hose should not exceed 15 feet in length.

Avoid placing soaker hose up and down hills; lay it horizon-

tally along slopes.

Soaker hose emits 1 gallon of water per hour for every 10

feet of hose, varying with water pressure and length of hose.

To determine optimal watering duration, experiment with

each section.

use a pressure regulator to achieve the appropriate water

pressure.
