Greetings Everyone!!
September is National Senior Center Month!! The theme for this year is Find Balance at yourSenior Center. What does it mean to be balanced? To be balanced means that you have a handleon the various elements in your life and don’t feel that your heart or mind are being pulled toohard in any direction. More often than not, you feel calm, grounded, clear-headed, and motivated.
So how can you find balance at your Senior Center? Senior centers allow older adults to develop a social network by making and meeting new friends. Senior centers offer programs andservices like crafts, bingo, fitness, dance classes, day trips, computer classes, health screenings, informational speakers, birthday celebrations, and much more.
We will be very busy celebrating National Senior Center Month in September. At Orchard wewill start with an indoor picnic on September 8th, volunteer appreciation on September 9th, a fourcenter block party at the Downtown Senior Center on September 15th, an open house/lunchfundraiser on September 30th, and don’t forget Senior Expo 2016 on September 22nd. So pleaseread your newsletters and posters in the senior center. Come out, have fun and Find Balance atyour Senior Center.

A Poem For "Senior Citizens"Written by Billy Nardozzi
They were brought up rightAnd they're so politeAnd you can count on their wordDay or Night
And their standards and moralsExceed the limitAnd this world would mean nothingWithout them in itAnd their most wonderful traitAnd it is worth a millionIs their "undisputed"Kindness to children
And so Senior CitizensSo honest and trueIt is such a pleasureKnowing you
I thank you for allYour wonderful waysAnd for you I haveNothing but praise
