SCS Orchestra

The Steubenville City Schools Orchestra Program is an asset, not only to Steubenville City Schools, but also to the entire community and has been contributing to the education of students in the Steubenville area for nearly 100 years. Many of our alumni have gone on to study music in college and are successful teachers and performers.

Students are able to join the orchestra in 3rd grade at Wells Academy and in 4th grade at East Elementary and West Elementary. In addition to learning about music, orchestra students make friends and learn how to work with others and the importance of discipline and hard work.

The Steubenville City Schools Orchestra has well over 100 members. Elementary Orchestra students participate in one major concert each year in the spring. The HMS Orchestra and the SHS Orchestra give two major concerts each year, one in the winter and one in the spring. Students also have other performance opportunities. For example, 7th through 12th grade students have the option of participating in Solo and Ensemble Competition. SHS Orchestra students perform for the elementary schools twice a year, as well as, for other community groups and retirement homes. The SCS Orchestra epitomizes the excellence, passion and commitment to which Steubenville City Schools is dedicated.
