ENVELOPES FOR 2014 offerings will be available at both services again this week. If you are unable to find yours or you need additional boxes, please contact the office. GREETERS FOR CONTEMPORARY SERVICE: We all want Memorial to be a place where everyone feels welcome. Beginning in January, the Contemporary Service will be adding two "greeters" at the door. Greeters are asked to be in place no later than 8:45 AM. If you are willing to serve as a greeter for a month, please contact JoAnn Rishforth at [email protected] or 864-552-1969. Also, during the month of January, a sign-up sheet will be located on the back table. This is an easy way to serve - just bring a smile! PLEASE JOIN US! Our next SUPPER AT SIX is set for Wednesday, January 8th. Give the church office a quick call, fill out the form in the bulletin, or send an email to RSVP. Don’t miss this fun time of fellowship. CHILDREN AN D YOUTH IN FORMATION ON SUNDAY, January 5th, JR. HIGH YOUTH will meet at 5:30 p.m., with a meal following, hosted by Dan and Amy Knapp. SR. HIGH YOUTH will meet afterwards. ON WEDNESDAY, January 8th, YOUTH will meet at 6:30 p.m., following our Supper at Six. ALL CHILDREN of Memorial (PreSchool - 5th Grade) are invited to join us as Sunday Night Programs resume on January 12. We'll kick off the New Year with a Polar Express Party. Come comfy in your PAJAMAS to watch the classic movie & enjoy snacks & hot cocoa. ALL CHILDREN are welcome; you do not have to commit to our Sunday Night Programs to join us for this night of fun and fellowship. We'll meet upstairs in the FLC from 5 - 7 pm. (Regular Sunday Night Programs of handbells, choir, Mission Kids & Bible Study will resume the following week). THE FINAL day to sign up for the mission trip with a $150 non-refundable deposit is January 8th. The Mission Team (those who have paid the deposit) and parents will then meet at 4:00 p.m. on January 12th to begin selecting the location for our Summer Mission Trip.

CALLING ALL JR AND SR HIGHS! We are planning a Talent Show this spring as a kick off for a new Youth Choir and Drama Team. (Participants in the Talent Show are not required to be a part of the choir.) We are looking for any talent that can be showcased on stage. Stay tuned for information about a talent preview night coming soon. Parents and teens, please give Cindy Davis feedback about a good day and time for the youth choir to meet at [email protected].

FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK

Beginning in February 2014, we will hold our next Confirmation Class. At this time, we would like to verify the list of rising sixth graders we currently have as participants for 2014. They include: John Shennan, Julia Shennan, Riley Driscoll, Rachel Hudson, Hunter Janes, Sean Bryant, Courtney Boyce, Emma Culberson and Mallory Williams. If you know of others or your name is missing from this list, please let the office know.

OTHER N EWS

RED BIRD MISSION: Please check the newsletter for information pertaining to the trip in April. There will be a sign-up sheet in the FLC on the bulletin board. GREER RELIEF NEEDS: Coffee, tea, juice, powdered/evaporated milk; toilet paper, paper towels and plasticware. GREER COMMUNITY MINISTRIES NEEDS: Beef stew, canned mixed greens, canned chicken; winter coats. MEALS ON WHEELS NEEDS: Space heaters. They also need substitute drivers. Please call 879-2254 to volunteer. GREER SOUP KITCHEN NEEDS: Sugar, powdered milk, plastic forks and spoons, plastic 16 oz. cups. ALL ITEMS FOR THESE CHARITIES CAN BE LEFT IN THE MARKED BASKETS AT THE ENTRANCE TO FLC, IN THE NARTHEX, AND OUTSIDE THE CHURCH OFFICE. POSITION AVAILABLE!! We are taking applications for a part-time nursery worker to provide coverage every Sunday, from 8:45 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. The position pays $12.00 per hour. Qualified applicants should love children and possess a willingness to become trained in Safe Sanctuary. Church membership is not required, but is preferred. If interested, you may apply during church office hours, Monday through Thursday, 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. or email Beth at [email protected].
