ORDER FOR THE WORSHIP OF GOD

TRINITY PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

NOVEMBER 6, 2016 ∙ 10:30 AM

PRELUDE Douglass McFarland

HYMN OF PRAISE No. 263 Lift High the Cross

2

THE APOSTLES’ CREED Michael Wichlan Associate Pastor

PEOPLE I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended into the grave. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy worldwide church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

TITHES & OFFERINGS The Last Words of David—Trinity Choir

He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God. And he shall be as the light of the morning, when the sun riseth, even a morning without clouds; as the tender grass springing out of the earth by clear shining after rain. Alleluia! Amen. 2 Samuel 23:3, 4

DOXOLOGY No. 731 Praise God from Whom All Blessings Flow

PASSING OF THE PEACE Please sign and pass the Friendship Pad located at the end of your row.

LEADER The peace of Christ be with you.

PEOPLE And also with you.

SERMON Worldview Check-up Dr. Mike Rasmussen Ephesians 6:10-20 is found on page 979 in the ESV Bibles. Senior Pastor

CELEBRATION OF THE LORD’S SUPPER

The communion bread is gluten-free. We serve wine during communion. If you prefer grape juice, please take a purple cup at the center of the tray.

We come forward for communion. This meal is open to every shepherded sheep of Jesus Christ; that is, to every communing member in good standing of any Bible-believing church. Please allow the outer seating sections to be served first and then the two center sections will be served. After you receive the elements, you can either take them immediately, or return to your seat to pray, confess, and meditate, taking the elements when you are ready. Feel free to sing along as the musicians lead us, or to silently commune with the Lord. LEADER Jesus took a cup, and when he had given thanks he said, “Take this, and divide it among yourselves. For I tell you that from now on I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.” And he took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” Luke 22:17-19

PEOPLE We will do as our Lord commands. We proclaim that our Lord Jesus was sent by the Father into the world, that he took upon himself our flesh and blood, and bore the wrath of God against our sin. We confess that he was condemned to die that we might be pardoned, and suffered death that we might live. We proclaim that he is risen to make us right with God and that he shall come again in the glory of his new creation. This we do now and until he comes again.

LEADER Praise to you, Lord Jesus:

PEOPLE Dying, you destroyed our death; rising, you restored our life. Lord Jesus, come in glory.
