The project will add features to help everyone get around more safely when driving, biking, walking, taking transit or using mobility devices such as a wheelchair. Project Elements and Benefits Repave the highway for the entire length of the project for a safer, smoother ride. Improve traffic signals and crosswalks at South Elm Street, South Grant Street and South Ivy Street to increase safety for everyone. We are studying locations where people cross OR 99E and may close crosswalks that don’t meet safety guidelines. Redesign and reconstruct the Southwest Fourth Avenue intersection near Southwest Berg Parkway for safer access near an essential destination. Install sidewalk curb ramps at all intersections to meet federal Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards. Reconstruct sidewalk on the south side of OR 99E and west of South Pine Street between La Conasuper Market and Rite Aid. Update striping along the highway for narrower and consistent lanes to encourage slower, safer speeds on the busy commercial street. This may allow for bicycle lanes on both sides of the highway between Southwest Berg Parkway and South Elm Street. Remove unused railroad tracks and realign active tracks that cross OR 99E near South Pine Street to eliminate hazards for people on two wheels. Partner with Canby Area Transit on improvements to increase safety and access for transit users as bus shelters are added in the area. Pavement conditions on OR 99E in Canby. Background and Details• This project continues repaving eastward after a

2018 paving project on OR 99E from Aurora to Southwest Berg Parkway.

• The project team will consult the City of Canby’s 2012 OR 99E Corridor and Gateway Design Plan to design changes at the Southwest Fourth Avenue intersection near Southwest Berg Parkway.

• Canby Area Transit is building new bus shelters in the project area. The project team is collaborating with the transit agency during design and will continue during construction.

• The Clackamas County South Ivy Street project will construct bike lanes and sidewalks along South Ivy Street from OR 99E to Lee Elementary School. Construction is anticipated to begin summer 2022.

Schedule» Design began in 2019 and continues through 2021.

» Construction is planned to begin 2022. Information about construction impacts will be shared in advance of work beginning.

Schedule subject to change.

Working with Property Owners, Businesses and ResidentsTo make the improvements, we expect a few locations where we need to purchase some additional strips of property, along the edges of sidewalk or intersection corners. We will also need to coordinate driveway locations, signs placed near the construction, and access to properties, especially during construction. We will be reaching out to property owners and businesses by phone, email and mail.
