Summary of Results from ITS New Jersey Strategic Planning Meeting
May 27, 2014
Vision: Technology for World Class Mobility
Mission: Facilitate collaborative research, implementation, and use of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) to enhance economic development, quality of life, and environmental sustainability through improved mobility and safety.
High Level Goals1. Create a sustainable ITS Chapter
a. Increase membership and revenueb. Promote professional development
2. Educate transportation agencies, vendors, and the public3. Promote adoption of ITS technologies4. Advocate the benefits of transportation technologies5. Formulate, seek, and offer research opportunities6. Leverage opportunities with the public/private sector7. Provide a forum for problem solving and private outcomes
Next Steps1. Send this summary to the attendees of the meeting2. Attendees to send action items for each of the High
Level Goals to Alain Kornhauser See below.3. Attendees to meet at 11:30am on July 1, 2014 at the
offices of New Jersey Transit to flush out action items for each of the High Level Goals
Preparation of High Level Goals: Please review the Plan Elements in our 2013 Strategic
Plan.

o These Plan elements were developed in a matrix context where each of the Action Items (Strategic Plan Elements) in rows identified which of the High-Level Goal ( Vision for ITS-NJ ) columns were being addressed.
o The Action Items were also clustered into temporal priorities of Immediate, Intermediate, Long Range
Please first think about the matrix organization and recommend any changes (I still prefer our original naming structure, but, of course, I would)
With whatever structure you prefer, please recommend what you would like to see in the “Action Items” (aka Strategic Plan Elements) section of our “ITS-NJ 2014 Strategic Plan”.
