Project Background
• Development limits were the primary factor driving theneed for a new wastewater treatment facility in themunicipality. The proposal of a major film studio in thetown could not be realized with the existing wastewatertreatment plant which in itself was aging and inefficient.
• The initial effluent limits at the original WWTP, usingA2O technology became stricter, and given hugefluctuations in influent quality and quantity from localwine production, this became an increasing challengefor the Town’s wastewater treatment process.
• As water usage slightly decreased over the years, contaminant concentration increased, further loadingthe existing WWTP.
• To make the film studio project successful, the realestate developer sought an independent technicalsolution which could preserve land value and meet theeffluent limits even with the difficult conditions

Reasons for Choosing Organica
• The treatment plant provides a capacitythat not only satisfies the continuouslyincreasing wastewater treatmentdemands of the settlement, but alsotreats the WW from the new Korda FilmStudio
• The unique architectural design in agreenhouse fit the rural nature of thecommunity in a smaller footprint than anyother solution considered.
• The small size of the plant made itpossible to construct the new WWTPwhile the original WWTP was in operation, thus removing the requirement topurchase additional land.

Chemistry and Performance Data
• Water quality of both influent wastewater and treated effluent is measured regularly according to local regulations.
• This study includes monthly data values for all major water quality parameters, as certified by an independent 3rd party lab
• Spot samples are taken of raw influent, as well as finished water effluent

Total Nitrogen Concentrations
Regulations require the effluent limits to be met only when the influent concentrations are within the design limits. The above chart shows that in spite of significant exceedances in influent design limits, the system we able to meet the TN limit throughout the period with one lone exception, that exception being a result of TN and Ammonia exceedance along with operator error.
