ORGANIZING AWARENESS CAMP AT SANTIPUR WEAVER CLUSTER IN

CONNECTION WITH ISSUANCE OF WEAVERS CREDIT CARD ON 20 th JANUARY 2012

As directed by Ministry of Textiles Govt of India a Awareness Camp for issuance of Weavers Credit Card has been organised by United Basnk of India (Lead

Bank) at Santipur , Nadia , WB with the handloom weavers under Santipur Weavers' Cluster on 20th January 2012 .The Awareness camp was held with active participation of of about 700 handloom weavers .The program was attended by Sri Manoj Kr Dutta ,Asstt Director of Handloom & Textiles , Govt of WB , Sri Saumen Mafder , Cluster Dev Executiuve , Santipur,Sri Dipal Nath, Handloom Development Officer,Santipur ,Sri Chanchal Mitra , AGM , NABARD ,representatives from Santipur Municipality , representatives from different Banks and other distinguished personalities from the locality .The officials from the Handloom and Textile departments , NABARD and DGM &CRM ,UBI ,Nadia highlighted the importance of organizing such camps. Some of the weavers also came forward to share their experience. In this camp 653 nos of credit Card proposals were received from the prospective weavers for financing by different banks at Santipur Area.
