Orica Minisparge™ System

Orica’s Minisparge™ system comprises a small onsite dissolving tank and a 22 tonne solid capacity sodium cyanide sparge isotainer. This system allows up to 22 tonnes of solid sodium cyanide to be dissolved on the mine site as required and is recommended for all small to medium customers who consume less than 1,000 tonnes per annum within Australia.

Orica Sparging Information Sheet

ORICA Bulk-Sparging System

The bulk-sparging system was developed to service large scale processing operations requiring in excess of 1,000 tonnes of solid sodium cyanide annually. The Orica bulk-sparging system, pictured above, typically features a dissolving tank, storage tank(s) and a 22 tonne solid capacity sodium cyanide sparge isotainer.

Purpose built isotainers are connected to the onsite dissolving tank that has been pre-filled with water, which is subsequently circulated through the isotainer to rapidly dissolve the cyanide. The resulting sodium cyanide solution is then transferred to the onsite storage tank for use.

The unique sparging systems developed by Orica provide customers with a solution to many of the logistical challenges that were previously associated with sodium cyanide delivery.

Orica offers two sparging alternatives: bulk-sparging to service large-scale mining operations, and the Minisparge™ system developed for smaller operations requiring less than 1,000 tonnes annually.

Technical Support

Orica Mining Chemicals is a global industry leader. The introduction of the Bulk and Minisparge™ systems demonstrates our commitment to providing innovative products and superior service quality to customers. Orica can also operate the tank telemetry system in conjunction with both sparging systems, allowing Orica Mining Chemicals to remotely monitor inventory levels and schedule deliveries in advance of the customer placing an order.

The Orica Mining Chemicals’ team work with each customer to develop a highly tailored sparge delivery solution, utilising existing onsite assets where possible to reduce our customers’ installation costs.

Safety, Health & Environment

Orica operates to the highest standard of safety, health and environment, guided by its vision of ‘No Injuries to Anyone Ever’. This vision underpins Orica’s commitment to ensure both its employees and customers operate in a safe and healthy work environment.

The packaging and delivery methods used by Orica Mining Chemicals ensure that the highest level of product quality and safety is maintained during shipping. All packaging and transport methods comply with the ADG (Australian Dangerous Goods) Code and the IMDG (International Maritime Dangerous Goods) Code. Transport contractors used by Orica Mining Chemicals are audited annually to verify compliance with all appropriate procedures.

Orica is a signatory to the International Cyanide Management Code (ICMC), a charter designed to “improve the management of cyanide used in mining”. Orica’s sparging systems are compliant with ICMC regulations and their adoption is an effective mechanism through which mining sites can significantly enhance their prospect of ICMC certification.
