NeedtoKnowInfoandTroubleshooting(ChicagoCampus)

HowtoConnect 1) All users need to connect to the “DeVry Wireless” SSID. 2) Once connected, open up a web browser (preferably IE or Firefox).

3) You might get this certificate error. Just click on “Continue to this website (not recommended)”. 4) You will now see a login page. Use your DSI# and Network password to login. 5) If you have Java installed, your laptop will be scanned by Blueprotect. 6) If Blueprotect finds that there are no issues, you will be allowed on our network.

WhatBlueprotectdoes… 1) It scans to make sure your laptop’s firewall is on.

2) It scans to make sure your antivirus has been updated (within the last 14 days).

3) It scans to make sure Peer-to-Peer software is not installed on your machine.

In order for all of this to work, Java must be installed on your computer. If it’s not, you must download it and install it outside of our network.

troubleshooting:

Some laptops might have issues connecting. If you can’t connect, you are more than likely having an issue with your laptop. Here are common issues encountered and the steps that can be taken to resolve the problems:

Q: When i connect to “devry Wireless”, my laptop says i have “no internet” or i never even reach the login page.

Q: When blueprotect starts to scan my machine it gives me a “Connection failed” error and doesn’t scan.

a: On Windows 7 and Vista: 1) Reset your browser’s settings. 2) Add https://10.5.15.2 to your browser’s Trusted Site. 3) Close the browser. 4) Go to Control Panel à User Accounts and Family Safety à User Accounts. 5) Click on “Change User Account Control settings”. 6) Slide the bar to “Never Notify” and hit the “OK” button. 7) Open My Computer à C: Drive à Users folder à (choose your profile). Delete the folder called OESISTotal (if available). 8) Reboot the machine.

If you are still experiencing issues, please bring it in to the helpdesk.

Every laptop MUST have an antivirus program to connect. Here are some program’s currently recognized by Bluesocket. (Older versions are

recognized).

MyScribe Handbook

introduction

Welcome to the MyScribe Reader FAQ for DeVry University. This document is

designed to give you a step-by-step instruction for using the MyScribe Reader to

access your course text for DeVry University. The MyScribe Reader offers functions

that will enable you to become more engaged with the content than with any

other reader.

The MyScribe Reader allows you to download, organize, and read your textbooks.

You can highlight passages in your text and make notes and annotations in the

margin for future reference and to assist you when studying for an exam. What’s

more, the SharedNotes feature allows you to share your notes with other students

in your class, and read SharedNotes that other students have made available.

Since all of your notes are stored online, you can make notes in your textbook at

one computer and read them on another.

MyScribe allows you to have your textbooks on up to three computers, so you

can download your text on your desktop at home and on your laptop. You can

also copy MyScribe and your books to a USB drive to take with you so you can

read your books in the library or in the computer lab.
