Difference between Business and Entrepreneurship: Businessman versus Entrepreneur

Noemi: Zarah, what do you think are the differences between a business and an entrepreneurship?

Zarah: is there any difference between the two?

Noemi: Well, Let’s find out.

Noemi: What is the difference between a business and an entrepreneurship? How about a business owner from an entrepreneur? These terms are commonly used interchangeably. However, these terms have different meaning – and those differences are what we will try to find out.

Zarah: To illustrate and understand simply and clearly the difference between business and entrepreneurship, we will have a face-off between a businessman and an entrepreneur. So, the showdown begins.

Businessman / Business Entrepreneur / Entrepreneurship

Starts a business from an existing idea – a businessman adopts a common concept of a business. *You are trying to come up with a business that has already been chosen.

Starts a business from his own unique idea or concept - Entrepreneurs are famous for their unique concepts and

ways of realizing these concepts. * Hence, if you want to become a real

entrepreneur, you should have a sense of originality and a sense of distinction.

Usually a profit-oriented- it relies on setting a product or service's price to attain a specific, predetermined net profit percentage. *In other

words, a businessman focuses on how they can increase their profit using certain techniques.

customers. *Remember, it is easy to keep your regular customers happy rather than try to gain new customers.

Works for the Company- *Most businessmen are not entrepreneurs, because they work for employers, take salaries and don't take much risk.

The Company works for him- unlike other businessman, he is the boss in his enterprise. *An entrepreneur receives all the profit of his business.

Usually don’t have time for their families and love ones- because businessmen are busy persons, they don’t have enough time for their love ones. *They constantly seem "busy", yet they are constantly late for appointments, don't ever have time to attend personal activities or outings, and are always stressed out about what still "needs to be done" each and every day!

Shares enough time with their families and love ones- *an entrepreneur can plan every activity during the working day and also for his family. *he manages his time for his loved ones and for his work.

Generally hire people to contribute profit Hire people to make their lives better

As a conclusion, a businessman is similar to an entrepreneur because an entrepreneur is a businessman. Entrepreneur is a businessman which is not traditional but is an innovative and creative type of a businessman. An entrepreneur differs a lot from a usual businessman. His entrepreneurship is created out of his own innovative idea and creation which is realized to be placed in business or to be transformed as a good business. Entrepreneurs are also more concerned on the quality of their products and on the satisfaction of their customers rather than being too much concerned to their profits.

Erika: For our next topic, we will discuss about the lessons we have learned from a successful entrepreneur.

Be willing to fail and try again – The fear of failure is a powerful de-motivator, but whether your business idea is ultimately a boom or a bust, you will gain valuable insight from the journey. Don’t let your pride stand in the way. Be willing to admit you made a mistake and then exercise the strength to carry the difficult lesson with you so that you will avoid it next time.Believe in the saying: “try and try until you succeed”

Be different- You have to stand out. You have to differentiate yourself. When you’re just getting started, the biggest thing you’ll be competing for is attention. Nobody is going to pay attention to a company that’s doing exactly the same thing as everyone else, but on a much smaller scale. Prepare a business plan.

Be prepared to work at least two years with a very small salary- you have to deal first with pains and difficulties to overcome the challenges in the business world. Don’t be afraid to start at the bottom because it will serve as a stepping stone to reach success.

Be passionate with what you do- You start a business to change any or all part of your life. To attain this change, you need to develop or uncover an intense, personal passion to change the way things are and to live life to the fullest. Success comes easily if you love what you do. Why? Because we are more relentless in our pursuit of goals about things that we love. If you hate your job right now, do you think you will ever be successful at it?

Work hard- Every successful entrepreneur works hard, hard and hard. No one achieves success just by sitting and staring at the wall every single day.

Grace: Before the conquest of Laguna Lake region. Nagcarlan was headed by a valiant datu named Gat Lakilaw. Its conversion to Christianity began in 1578 through the efforts of Fr. Juan de Plasensia and Fr. Diego Oropesa, both Franciscan missionaries.

The community formally became a pueblo in 1583 under Fr. Tomas de Miranda, who brought Nagcarlan the first seeds of wheat ever on Philippine soil.

Maj: Ana Kalang Festival is being celebrated from first Wednesday of October to commemorate the bountiful harvest from their agro?industrial products. This started, in 1987 and features the different agro trade fair booths and Giant Statues (usually 10 ft high) commonly called in Nagcarlan as "kalang kalangs", competing for a big prize given by the municipal government.

Ana Kalang according to a myth was known for her tremendous wealth, kindness, piety, and generosity. During her time, she was always around to help her townmates whenever in trouble that even among the Spaniards, her popularity is truly acknowledged.
