Eco Club Crayola Marker Recycling Program: Our Eco Team is running a marker recycling program here at OPPS. If you have any old and dry markers that are no longer of use, don’t throw them out, send them into school with your child so that we can recycle them. One more way to keep extra items out of the landfill! If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Gibson-Neve. School Pizza Order: The next Pizza order for the remainder of the school year, April 12-June 21 will be available on School Cash Online from March 1-April 3. Late orders will not be accepted. This is the last pizza order for the year.
OPPS Annual Fun Fair: Calling All Volunteers: Help us make our annual Fun Fair one we’ll never forget! We need volunteers to help prepare for the event, even if it’s for a few hours. If you are interested, please email our School council. Thanks!

Intermediate Boys Basketball
It's that time of year again, the week before March break, and our rock, paper, scissors competition has started! All classes are participating by sending one class representative who won the in-class competition. Today, the students battled it out to find out the rock, paper, scissors, champion! The date is set! May 8th@ 6:30p.m. Oscar Peterson is bringing back Oscars Got Talent. Students are encouraged to go outside their comfort zone and show what they got! Whether you’re showing off your cool moves, amazing voice or rubik's cube skills, Mrs. McWilliam is ready to see! Our intermediate band, choir and dance team will be performing too. Students, be sure to sign up outside the music room, as auditions start after March Break! This year our school participated in many different York Region Skills Challenges. We participated in 3 different skills this year, video production, Lego mechanics, and Lego robotics. Mr. Izzo and a few other parent volunteers were helping these teams prepare for the final competitions. Our Lego robotics team came top 10 in the competition, and the Lego mechanics team tried their best! Our video production team came second throughout all of York Region! Congratulations teams! Our co-ed grade 6-8 badminton tryouts are up and running! Mr. Prieur has been working hard with the students to create a strong team! Along with badminton, the junior girls basketball tryouts have begun and Mr. Izzo is working hard to create the best team possible! If your child is in grade 4 and didn’t make the team, there will be a grade 4 practice team. Practices will be held every Day 1 at morning recess. See you there! On Tuesday our grade 8 classes had a very special visitor, Jane Philpott! Mr.Whiton’s class has been working hard on their Buses Need Belts project and they were lucky enough to get Mrs. Philpott to come in and listen to their incredible presentation! She gave them awesome advice to grow and directed them as to what they should do next to make sure their project succeed. Thank you Mrs. Philpott! Mrs. Choy’s and Mrs. Siapas’ class along with a parent volunteer celebrated Pancake Tuesday this week. Students couldn’t get enough and especially loved the real Maple Syrup.

SUMMER OPPORTUNITIES
Hello All,
We are happy to let you all know that we are doing another fundraiser in memory of our Jaylen Williams. Please see the attached flyer.
As you may know, Jaylen had an opportunity through Make-A-Wish, and having his wish come true brightened the last few months of his life. Jaylen passed away May 2016 with a thankful heart. Jaylen always had a strong desire to help others so, through Play for Jay, we are helping make wishes come true in Jaylen's memory.
We have a big venue, however, there has been an amazing amount of interest from Jaylen's soccer family already for this event. This will be a well-attended event with dinner, fun entertainment, music, a silent auction and much, much more so we are hoping the Gala will sell out pretty quickly. For this reason, please confirm your attendance and the number of seats that you may need as soon as possible. I will have the tickets ready by late next week and will be happy to make arrangements to get them to anyone interested.
