From Father Mike

Later this month we will be welcoming among us one of our diocesan

seminarians for this coming summer. Liam Thompson is finishing his first

year of Pre-Theology at Mundelein Seminary in the Chicago area. If this

seminary sounds familiar, it’s because it is the same one I graduated from

25 years ago. Liam has roots in Westfield down near Indianapolis, and he

has a background in ministry as he worked on the staff at St. Alphonsus

Catholic Church in Zionsville, also down near Indianapolis. One of the

goals of a summer assignment is for our seminarians to experience life in

our parishes, and Liam has been specifically assigned to this area to get a

sense of the more rural part of the diocese. This will include showing up to

activities with our Latino Catholics in Akron and the people at the smaller

parishes in Monterey and Kewanna. I would encourage you to consider

inviting him to your home so that he could at least experience the best

part of the parishes in this part of the diocese, namely the fabulous

cooking! And continue to pray for our seminarians, especially Sean Aaron

getting ordained a transitional deacon and Deacons James D’Oreo and

Christian DeCarlo getting ordained priests on Saturday, June 2.

me gradué hace 25 años.

CHURCH INTERIOR WORK

As you can see from the scaffolding inside the church, work has begun on

repairing the ceiling beams towards the front of the church that have been

that this needed for the long term safety and structural integrity of the church.

Thank you for your ongoing financial generosity that has made possible this

important repair work.
