OSMS 5.0 Upgrade: Detailed Overview of New Parent Store Design
Hi Everyone, The latest upgrade for the OSMS suite called 5.0 is now complete. The primary change is the redesign of the school store. This means that the store will resize to the purchaser’s smart phone, tablet, and computer into a more modern, mobile friendly version. The upgrade is expected to be a rolling deployment from now until summer 2018. This document will be a detailed overview of all changes to the system. 1) OSMS 5.0 – Summary OSMS 5.0 affects 2 major modules: **Please note that if you use OTR/OSR, you will still be upgraded to all the other items, such as the newest version of the web store and Refund page in OSP. 1. New store web design, including
a) Responsive new design for the School Store so it’s more modern and mobile friendly. This means that the store webpage will resize itself to whatever screen it’s currently display on, such as on a smart phone, tablet, or computer.
b) Other Payments (Summary Obligation) tab has been removed since Variables now display on the school page
c) Larger, dedicated space for product info, including Activity #s (aka SKUs), product images and more
d) More intuitive user experience: tabs and pages will be moved so they’re easier to find

2) New Web Store
a) Responsive Design for mobile devices
The School Store has been completely redone via responsive web design. This means that the store will resize itself to whatever screen it’s currently display on, such as on a smart phone, tablet, or computer.

As you can see, the location and/or button details will become more hidden. However, clicking the Settings icon (3 bars in top left corner, sometimes called the hamburger button) will reveal the main bar options again, including school categories like Elementary or High School.

The OSMS Support Desk recommends testing your new school store on multiple devices so you are familiar the changes and help prepare for any parent questions.
b) Summary Obligations Retired & Other Payments Tab Removed
i) End of Life of Summary Obligations
Summary Obligations has been officially retired and formally replaced with the new option in OSP Products called Variable. At this time, no upgrades or enhancements are planned nor any formal support. Obligations previously could be found under the Setup tab Student Oblig. Setup page. Below are pictures of this legacy feature.

ii) OSP Product: Variable
Please remake any Summary Obligations as an OSP Product, Variable, if you or the system haven’t already done so. Failure to do to this means that your school can no longer take purchases for items without a fixed price. This often includes items like donations, and lost library books. iii) Summary Obligation Tab Removed
Since all OSP Products now display under the main school name (and no longer “hidden from view”), the Summary Obligation tab is now being deactivated. The name of this tab varied from school district to school district, but was most often called Other Payments. Below are pictures of this legacy feature.

iv) Other Should a school district want to continue to use Summary Obligations, they may email [email protected] a written request to turn it back on. Requests will be reviewed and approved on a case by case basis.

d) More Intuitive User Experience Based on parent and school staff feedback, we have decided to move certain pages, buttons, and tabs in the School Store. The goal was to make to finding schools easier, find product details easier, and generally eliminate major pain points. These changes include (but are not limited to):
i) Redesigned Main Bar
(1) Home tab and School District Branding
The Home or main page of the School Store has been redesigned so it’s less cluttered. Certain branding such as school district logos or additional instructions will be placed in the red boxes below. Have a new school district logo? Please email it to [email protected]! PNG files only, size 355 by 78 pixels.
(2) School Lists Schools now display on the main bar. Each school category (such as Elementary or High School) will have its own dedicated tab. Hovering over a specific school category will then display a dropdown menu of all available schools. School districts with a large number of different school categories may see some reorganization or filter to make sure all options are visible.

(3) Pay Obligation
Any school districts that uses Online School Invoicing (OSI) or Detailed Obligations will be able to utilize the Detailed Obligations tab. These invoices can only be viewed by that student. This tab has a number of names including (but not limited to) Pay Obligation or Pay Student Debts.
(4) OSC Payments
Any school district that uses Online School Care (OSC) will be able to utilize the Pay OSC tab. This tab has a number of names including (but not limited to) Pay Childcare or OSC Payments.

ii) User Icons
In the top right corner, there is a series of User Icons, including:
(1) Search
Search for specific products in the store
(2) User Login
The Login page has been moved to the top right corner. At this time, there has been no changes to the info required to create a new parent user account.

(3) Customer Service
The Customer Service section has been moved to the top right corner. Often times, this info is custom to a school district.
It includes tabs such as:

The My Account section has been moved to the top right. Selecting it will automatically take the parent to the Order History where they can review any prior purchases. This is also will they can see if they any barcoded tickets from Online Ticket Management (OTM).
The My Account section includes tabs such as:

(D) Change Password
(E) Change Name
(F) Student Profiles

The Shopping Cart section is still in the top right corner.

One change is that the current total now displays, prior to check out. This includes any applicable service or convenience fees.
