Dear Ben, Sandie and the Inner North Community Foundation Board,

I am writing to thank you for your generous support of Scarf over the past couple of years. The Employment Pathways grants have allowed us to continue program delivery (providing opportunities to countless young asylum seekers and refugees) whilst substantially building our capacity as a social enterprise.

In particular, last year’s grant really reinvigorated the organisation and saw us making some much-needed changes to our business model and branding. This opportunity was instrumental in Scarf thriving, making 2015 our busiest year yet, with 40 trainees completing our program and 70% of them finding meaningful employment.

Thank you so much for your support of Scarf. I really appreciate that beyond funding Scarf, you have also generously offered employment to various graduates at Foundation events, and promoted Scarf Dinners and campaigns to your networks. All of this has greatly assisted us in reaching our objectives and helped us to grow our reach.

A 15-20 minute pilot episode of NORTH will be developed that follows a dysfunctional group of friends as they transition into adulthood. For the past eight years, the Inner North Community Foundation has been supporting and providing opportunities to people in Melbourne’s inner north through its Pathways to Employment grants program. This major granting activity strengthens local employment through funding organisations to run innovative and creative programs that unlock people’s potential.

This year, $360,000 will be distributed to 20 charitable organisations in Darebin, Moreland and Yarra. These not for profit organisations have been supported as they add value to people’s lives, and accelerate their progress to enjoy local economic participation, prosperity and opportunity.

As well as giving money, the Foundation has partnerships with businesses, trusts and foundations, schools, not for profit organisations, local governments, individuals and families to match money with opportunities and talent in the inner northern region. We are a safe pair of hands for anyone wanting to invest money to strengthen the social and economic fabric of our communities.

We are delighted to offer this significant financial contribution that builds on people’s strengths and local assets, as it ensures that individuals, families and communities have the opportunity to make their contribution to a strong and prosperous region.
