Rochdale Pioneers Museum, RochdaleThe museum opened for the first time in 1931
In the 70's, the Museum was closed for some years
because structural problems were found in the building but
it was successfully restored
The main themes of the museum are: •the development of the early cooperative movement •the Rochdale Principles •inspirational cooperators •history of retail •the growth of the movement, and its 20thcentury social history •international cooperation
In 2000 the management
of the Rochdale Pioneers
Museum was transferred
to the Cooperative
College
It was recognised as a
registered museum in
2001
NotreDame de la Garde, Marseille
Notre Dame means ‘Our Lady’.
It was built on the foundations of a 16th century fort.
It is situated at the highest point of Marseille, near the old port.
The people of Marseille like to think of the Basilica as their guardian and
protector of the city so they call it ‘La Bonne Mère’ (The Good Mother).
The new, great bell was transported on its journey to the Basilica in 1845, by a
carriage pulled by 16, and later, 26 horses. It weighed 8234Kg!

It’s known as Rio – Antirio bridge
It’s one of the world longest multispan cable stayed bridges
It’s the longest of the fully suspended type
Cellino Attanasio & Town Walls, Teramo
Cellino Attanasio is situated in the province of Teramo, Abruzzo, Italy.
Approximately 3000 people live there today.
It is a fortress town.
Its surrounding walls date back to the 1400s.
The walls are still intact with 2 watchtowers, which were once used to
defend the town from invaders.
