Through the well-trained expert staff and a stable revenue, AQUAPLUS Ltd. has achieved significant results even within the field of community potable water supply, wastewater drainage and treatment.

AQUAPLUS Ltd. has been assigned by the local municipality to operate the Zalaszentgrót Regional Waterworks. We won the tender in 2001 and the operation has been carried out by AQUAZALA Ltd., a company 45% owned by AQUAPLUS Ltd. From 2002, AQUAZALA Ltd. operates Zalabér Regional Water-works and Nagypál Regional Waterworks. (Main features of the operation are as follows: 40 ommunities, 30 000 people, 825 000 m3, and 325 000 HUF revenue). In 2005, the operation of the waterworks in the Zalalövő & Environs small region system was awarded to the company as well.

In addition to the professional field of waterworks operation, a unique responsibility is to renew the control engineering system of old water and sewage works. During the reconstruction phase, an up-to-date process control computer (PLC) is installed to control and monitor the system according to the requirements by using the appropriate peripherals. It is able to display and store instantaneous oper-ating conditions and extensive series of data that provides significant help for further optimization.

For old sewer networks or potable water pressure pipes of larger diameter, it is of utmost importance to measure the condition of the pipes, recognize possible damages and corrosion problems.

It is worth mentioning the development of a control engineering system and dispatch center of the Zalaszentgrót sewage disposal and treatment plant, which is now the most up-to-date water-service-related control engineering system in Hungary.

Between 1992 and 2012, we have designed, con-structed, and operated 15 independent communal and industrial water supply works. We are proud of the hot/cold waterworks built for PICK Szeged Ltd. with a daily capacity of 4 500 m3. Water, from the 912 m deep thermal well was directly connected to the factory hot water system to provide 42°C hot water. It is really worth highlighting this project because PICK Szeged Ltd. had to comply with EU regulations early on; therefore, our company also had to meet the advanced European specifications.

Similar requirements were to meet on planning, licensing and executing independent waterworks for the food producers, Danone Ltd. and Rauch Ltd., and a manufacturer of industrial raw materi-als, Huntsman Ltd. Our Company is the contracted operator of these industrial waterworks.

In Hódmezővásárhely, we supervised the urban thermal system from a geothermal point of view and constructed a uniform geothermal public utility network for this town, which is considered unique in Hungary in regard to its solutions and volume.Consisting of a thermal well, its adherent injec-tion well, and two thermal wells supplying water of potable quality, this system provides hot water to three blocks of flats and the public institu-tions. These four thermal wells are interconnected through 7.6 kms of heat-isolated piping in size of o 100 and o 150 mm in size. This system has been operating for seven years and for more than four years at full capacity.

In Kistelek, the geothermal system services consist of two parts. Largely, as a heat supply for public institutions with a minor utilization as the thermal water supply for the Training Pool & Aqua-park. The grouping by heat supply is as follows: heating and hot water production. Use for bathing: to supply water for the circulateand-filter pools and a filland-drain bathing-pool. Being pumped to the surface, the thermal water reaches the utilization site through several water treatment processes. Major technological inter-ventions: ventilation, extraction of gases, and iron, as well as a pressure boost. The water-line network is now 4.2 km long, including the injection well.

Continuous operation is maintained, while meeting the strictest environmental regulations.Due to its complexity, a wide variety of utilization is available at the Zalaegerszeg geothermal system. The producing well is located in the yard of Pózva Hospital and is the starting point where the former gas-operated heating centers are linked together. Utilization consists of two parts: heating and water supply for AQUACITY and the Thermal Baths. An automatic system of continuous operation provides a controlled operation to allow utilization of geothermal energy with a high efficiency. Since 2004, the continuously expanding cus-tomer base is operating their systems with great

satisfac tion, in addition to saving gas and getting rid of out -dated equipment. Installed network: 6 kms long, made of 200 heat isolated piping and related fittings. Buildings supplied: Hospital Central Building, Elderly Care Home I, Elderly Care Home II, Camp Site, AQUACITY Machine Room I-IV, children’s pool and experience pool at the Thermal Baths. Other possibilities of use include a hotel and an indoor pool to be built as a supplement to AQUACITY in Zalaegerszeg, which if implemented, could utilize thermal energy by applying unique solutions. E.g.: application of absorption cooling (building cooling by using hot water). Our company has great experience in preparing studies in energetics.

During construction, we implement wells by using state-of-the-art structures and materials. The rotary drilling technology is supplemented with a closed surface sludge system, which serves beyond the environmental points of view, significant layer pro-tection benefits. The technical string of pipes above the storage level are cemented, then after enlarging the water bearing layers, a high rate string of filters will be built in. Our wells are built with Johnson filters ballasted according to advanced requirements.

With a view to layer and rock conditions, we have drilling rigs of counter-flush and air-lift flushes to provide efficient well construction. We use special equipment suitable for sampling and dry drilling near-surface layers.

Our company is amongst the few well drilling enter-prises of Hungary, which is able to construct wells by using all the drilling procedures.

Beyond the construction of new wells, we also repair existing, over-aged wells with reduced water yield (for both hot and cold water wells).

We undertake a guarantee for water yield even when reconstructing the structurally defected wells with the replacement of a filter or filter cartridge.

Since 1989, our company constructed a number of wells suitable for producing cold and thermal water. It is capable of drilling any well from the shallow observation types through the cold water wells that supply industrial plants to the very deep thermal wells (of more than 3 000 m).

We have well drilling equipment of various drilling capacity and loadability, well-trained and experi-enced engineers, master drillers and well drilling laborers that perform all aspects of the job.

Procedure for drilling and repairing water wells by using a rinsing liquid with alkali metal ion content made of anionic macromolecular poly-mer to serve environment protection purposes. Among the equipment, we are proud of our Z J 30 / 1700 C Z type

self-propelled well drill with a 3 000 m depth drilling capacity.

These well constructions and drilling technologies result in a significant increase in water yield and well life due to the efficiency of the applied patents.

ReseARCH & DevelOPMeNt, PROteCtiON OF POtABle WAteR BAses

Our company took part in investment projects for the purpose of securing some perspective and op-erating water bases that could be easily damaged. To take part in target programs on the protection of water bases, we have accreditation from the Minis-try of Transport, Communication and Water Manage-ment of the Hungarian Republic.

Attaching importance to the water source protection program, our company established the Hydrogeol-ogy Office in Budapest in September of 2002 to coordinate and perform any related works.

The professional activities of this office incorporates geological support to corporate drilling works, the design of research drillings, preparation of high-level hydro geological, environmental and geological scientific reports and studies, support of continu-ous professional/scientific development and their industrial application.

The office specialized in geological analyses of (fractured,karstic) aquifers in complicated geo-logical environments and water sources at major depths, preparation of water source protection studies (e.g. Szakoly-Balkány, Pécsvárad, Akasztó) and simulation of natural refill areas of aquifers. To simulate subsurface water flows, we use state-of-the-art numerical simulation software.

We focus on hydrogeological research of thermal water reserve estimation related to renewable geothermal energy utilization as well as design of strategies on research, exploitation and reinjection.

Space information analyses and 3D displays are added to our interpretation work in all cases. If pos-sible, we make use of the latest achievements in scientific and technical developments and inform our clients of how to apply them.

We work in close co-operation with scientific institu-tions with special attention to ELTE TTK Faculty of Applied and Environmental Geology, with whom the framework of co-operation was laid down in a con-tract. Through our university co-operation, we are in professional contact with hydrogeologic co-workers of this faculty, and with internationally respected professors of Hungarian origin, such as Prof. Imre Müller (visiting professor at ELTE, formerly at Univer-sité de Neuchâtel, Neuchâtel, Switzerland), Prof. László Király (Université de Neuchâtel, Neuchâtel, Switzerland), Prof. József Tóth (University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada), whom we call upon for their expertise.

Based on the water quality regulations effective from 2001 - 2002, there is an increased demand for the production of tender potable and thermal water for consumers. Based on decades of designing and execution experience, our expert staff is well prepared to offer solutions. We would highlight the water treatment technology of Arló, a large community, where the iron and ammonium content was above the value limit of the water exploited from the wells had to be reduced to the specified values according to regulations.

The essence of water treatment is that ammonium is removed by breakpoint chlorination. The contact time after feeding the chlorine is ensured in a 15 m3 tank. The chlorine fed into the water oxidizes the iron in addition to decomposing the ammonium, so no other chemicals or air admission is needed for iron extraction. The water contain-ing the oxidized iron will be pumped by a booster pumping plant into a filter group consisting of 4 tanks. Filler of such filter tanks includes silica sand and gravel. The deferrized water will reach the site of utilization through a filter group with activated carbon. Going through a post-sterilization, the treated water will reach the customers.This system has been operating perfectly since its start-up. As a common result of careful designing and high-level execution reckoning with the layer conditions of regional wells, the equipment continuously provides a water qual-ity that satisfies regulations and consumer needs accord-ing to test results. Another significant project of ours was the construction of a water treatment plant for the domestic hot water sup-ply network operated in the area of Szeged, north Heating Works I/B. One of the tasks to be solved was to remove the humic acid which was giving a yellow colour to the thermal water, also to adequately and efficiently sterilize the ther-mal water, which was successfully done by mixing SAnOSIL Super-50, a sterilizing agent approved in Hungary for use in thermal water. Furthermore, our company deals with the design, licensing and execution of deferrizing and deman-ganizing equipment, LVS type degassing units, ammonia removers, and in-well degassers.

The general contracting of the Thermal Spa in Siklós was completed by AQUAPLUS Ltd. in August 2010. The new Bath of Siklós can be found in a unique natural and historical environment next door to Siklós Castle. The internal architecture of the spa is exceptionally imposing, with their special atmo-sphere the colourful bastions surrounding the pools symbolyze the safe walls of the castle. Inside each bastion surprise experiences await bathers. In the three-storey complexum measuring more than 5 000 square metres cold and hot water pools with unique adventure elements, child and adventure pools, a sauna world, sports grounds and catering units provide recreation with many experiences.

During the execution, various, unique mechanical solutions were used:

Considering allergenic patients, pollen filtered, up-to-date air handling units were installed, which are capable of exchanging 38 000 m3 air per hour in the bathing area.

The heating system in the building is very special domestically, since there is no gas, only thermal energy is used for heating.

Operators use up-to-date UV sterilizers in addition to the conventional chemical treatment to disin-fect the pool water.

Titanium oxide quarry-tiles are used on the floor of the pool area and inside the pools to reduce the risk of fungoid diseases.

This bath was built by our company in the close vicinity of Aquacity and Aquatherma Thermal Village and Camp Site. The area of use exceeds 3 000 m2. Beyond the open-air children and theme pools, the thermal water pools of 700 m2 capacity offer pleas-ant relaxation. The general contracting of the Train-ing Pool in Mohács was completed by AQUAPLUS Ltd. in June 2007.

From the beginning, we took part in designing and im-plementing the building and succeeded in completing a swimming pool, where all the children of Mohács are able to learn how to swim and get better at this sport. The Training pool of more than 1 800 m2 was built on the plot adjacent to the former open-air baths. It was a great challenge to implement such a swimming pool that performs medicinal and wellness functions in addition to swimming education. According to client needs, a complete sauna world was implemented in the timber truss building and rooms suitable for medi-cal therapy were established.

The Tamási Thermal SPA was established in August 2011. The new indoor Bath of more than 3000 m2 was built on the plot adjacent to the former open-air baths. The new conception called Ability proposed that disab -led guests can have resort to every services in this Thermal Bath. According to client needs, a complete sauna world was implemented in the new building and rooms suitable for medical therapy were established.

The new Zalaegerszeg Thermal Bath were opened in Zalaegerszeg in the Gébárt Leisure Center, which pampers guests by using a light and sound therapy that is unique in Europe. There are more than 3,000 luminaries to improve bathing experiences at night, including fiber optics of a ’starlit night sky’, hidden coloured LED lamps, and various pool lights.

Since September 2003, the AQUA Hotel next to Ther-mal Bath Kistelek executed by our company under a general contract. The hotel welcomes guests and can accommodate up to 54 people, in single, double, triple and apartment rooms. The rooms are equipped with a phone, TV, mini-bar, safe, and Internet connection. There is a restaurant and a bar int he hotel.
