Earth's oceans are saltwater and completely surround a continent.

Oceans are the largest bodies of water on earth.

Seas

Earth's seas are saltwater and the land surrounds most or all of a sea.

Seas are also very large, but not as large as an ocean.

Rivers

Rivers are mostly freshwater. Rivers are constantly moving in a zigzag

line. Rivers empty into seas or oceans.

Streams

Streams are freshwater. The water in streams is constantly

moving. The water in streams flows into rivers. Streams are smaller than rivers.

Lakes and Ponds

Lakes and ponds are freshwater. Lakes are larger than ponds. People use lakes for fishing, swimming

and boat riding. Ponds are mostly used for fishing and

swimming.

Glaciers are solid ice. They are huge sheets of ice that move a

few inches a year. They are found where it is extremely cold

like the North and South Pole.
