First saturation diving work on projects in Newfoundland (core-drilling from within a habitat) and Ekofisk - Germany (soil investigation). Eventually the saturation system was installed in a mineshaft to serve as a training facility.
1980’s 2020
Today – oldest privately-owned diving company in NL, subsea solutions for oil and gas, renewables, civil and dredging industry
Activities shifted to civil works with underwater concreting at various underground parking's and tunnels on and between the German Potsdamerplatz and Lehrter Bahnhof.
Regained focus on world-wide offshore and hyperbaric operations. Development of the Hyperbaric Testing Centre and successful completion of milestone hyperbaric projects on subsea structures and pipelines.
Upgrade of the Bergen op Zoom Yard, built of the second pipeline repair habitat and implementation of a company wide ERP system. Focusing on IWS.

Built of the first habitat for work on the ‘Oosterscheldekering’ (part of the Delta Works). During this project, the Dutch Diving Tables were developed as the Sterk-Vriens tables. The NDC (National Diving Centre) was also founded by W. Vriens Snr. during this period.

The Sur de Texas – Tuxpan (SdTT) gas pipeline project is located along the East coast of Mexico, from Tuxpan going upstream (North) till Brownsville (USA) and has landfalls in Tuxpan (42”), Altamira (2 x 42”) and Brownsville (42”). The water depth and working depth varies from 5m till 29m. DCN was contracted by Allseas for the all the dive support and Survey for the project.

Potsdamer Platz is an important public square and traffic intersection in the center of Berlin, Germany, lying about 1 km (1,100 yd) south of the Brandenburg Gate and the Reichstag (German Parliament Building), and close to the southeast corner of the Tiergarten park. Between 1989 and 1994 DCN provided a Dive team year-round of 200 personnel and conducted all the underwater concrete for the foundation of the entire Plotsdamer Platz.

In 2012 DCN Diving was contracted by Jader Weser ports in Wilhelmshaven to repair 1.800m of Quay Wall. A purpose-built habitat was designed and built, which was connected to a movable diving platform. Divers were able to entry the habitat from the bottom and had a dry environment to work in (see design on the right). DCN was contracted to conduct hyperbaric repairs in Emden canal lock to the main port.
2010A trunk lock was installed on the sluice door. Inside the canal lock door was a habitat environment. The divers were transferred through the transfer lock in the dry environment in order to conduct the change-out the guiderails.
2017In 2017 similar activities were conducted. In addition to repairs, a habitat with a riser was used in order to scan the entire canal lock in a dry environment.

Arranged & Supervised WelderCoding Engineering for HabitatSupervision of Construction of Habitat Habitat Fit‐out Supply of Habitat Technicians Details of Work: Piles of the MDP‐A Platformwere installed and grouted in 2008, howevertwo of the piles (A1 and B2) remain approximately 15m short of their designpenetration depth. A decision was made to install 4 shear plates on these two piles, in order to achieve design strength. To achieve the required welding quality, the shear plates have to be installed and welded under hyperbaric (dry) conditions, according to a qualified PQR and utilizing certified (coded) hyperbaric welders.

DCN Diving was contracted by Artes Roegiers in 2018 for the design and fabrication of a purpose-built cofferdam in order to rehabilitate the quay wall of the cruise terminal in Antwerp.
The Cofferdam consisted of 7 sections, when assembled 14.5 meter heigh and 5 meter wide. When the Cofferdam is installed dewatering takes place. Once this is completed the area of repair is cleaned with HP Waterjet. Once this area is clean, formwork is installed with reinforcement after which concreting takes place.
There are several positions on the quay wall which requires repair, the cofferdam is therefore installed on several positions and activities are repeated.

As part of the construction programme of a new hydro power plant for Gas Nateral Fenosa it was necessary to upgrade the bottom intakes of the dam, so that they could be used as intakes for the new Plant. Before executing the upgrade two temporary bulkheads had to be installed at a waterdepthof 85m in order to complete the work in a dry environment. DCN Diving was contracted to design, engineer, fabricate, install the bulkheads and remove when the work was completed.

Due to an incident the lintel beam above the maintenance gate had fallen down. Therefore it was required to install a bulkhead in front of the intake in order to repair the lintel beam area and embedded parts. DCN Diving was therefore awarded by SHGC with an EPIC (Engineering, Procurement, Installation, and Commissioning) Project in North-Africa for the re-commissioning of a water intake unit in a hydro power generation dam. Due to a lack of power in this region it was of major importance that the re-commissioning of this intake was carried out in a timely manner.

TIWAG (Tiroler Wasserkraft AG) manages various civil constructions in the Tiroler area in Austria. One of their assets is the GepatschSpeicher Dam in Kauntertal Austria. This dam is located at an altitude of 1765. This dam It feeds the Kaunertalkraftwerk hydro power station. One of the major issues of this dam, which is a commonly shared issue within the industry, is the accumulation of sediment in front of the dam. DCN Diving was therefore contracted by TIWAG to dredge in front of the spill gates and to install new trashrack system including pouring of underwater concrete at 110msw depth in front of the spillway system.

DCN Diving was contracted by Dana Petroleum for the fabrication and removal and installation of pipeline spool, IRM at Dana’s Platforms (F2-A, P10-05, P11-B, P11-C, P11-01, P11-09), Replacement of New Sensors in subsea structures.
A Proserve diamond wire cutter was utilized to cut and retrieve the pipe.
The work was conducted with a mobilized Air Diving and ROV spread on the Normand Mermaid. The works was completed well within schedule and budget.

In 2004 DCN was contracted to Rehabilitate 4 x 450m cool-water lines in Blackwater Power Station in Hong Kong for CLP.In order to execute this project DCN Designed, Engineered and Manufactured 2 moveable habitats for back up and transport inside cool water channels and 1 Remotely Operated Cleaning Machine (ROCM).The ROCM was initially deployed to clean the intake and the habitat moved right behind it to conduct the following works: 4 culverts were constructed, cleaning of dosing line was performed, repairing joints and replacement of some sections.

DCN was contracted by GSP in 2012 to carry out PQR for Welder & Procedure qualifications, which was undertaken in DCN’s facility and to Design a habitat that could seal off on the piggy bag system and to conduct the hyperbaric weld offshore. A full mock-up took place of the habitat and a dummy pipe.
The pressure to complete the project within schedule was high, because the repair was required to increase productivity of Sochi pipeline to accommodate the 2014 Winter Olympics in Russia.

In 2015 DCN was contracted by PGN to provide and execute a solution to permanently repair a leaking gas pipeline at 24 meters depth. This subsea pipeline provided gas to the biggest Electricity Plan in Jakarta. Due to economical impact it was not possible to shut down the pipe for. DCN therefore develop a method to safely permanently repair the gas pipeline. DCN successfully completed the project from Design, Engineering and Fabricating of the Purpose Built Habitat and Suction Piles and the Gas containment Clamp and Stand-Off Sleeve.

SCOPE OF WORK
A Major North Sea Operator contracted DCN to investigate and prove different methodologies to repair weld defects on a platform in the North Sea. One such method involved the use of a micro-habitat deployed around the repair site. The habitat would be deployed from a DSV and most likely transferred to a platform winch for lowering to the worksite. The habitat is then sealed and dewatered. A pair of gloves integrated into the casing of the habitat enables the diver to get his hands inside and manipulate welding and NDT Equipment.
