KAW EC 2010 Highlights Record number of memberships— More than 310 families enrolled as KAW members. (Previous rec-
ord was 282)
Record Revenue of $9,600 in business sponsorships—This EC worked hard to reach out to many lo-cal businesses to advertise with us through our brochure & social networks.
Bylaw —For the past few years KAW was not functioning according to its bylaws. This was rectified by amending the bylaws and filing it with both WA State and IRS
Website—KAW website was redesigned giving the association a facelift
Social Networks—Facebook and Twitter groups were started and consistently used them for the latest updates. Combined, there are close to 400 followers.
Charity—100% of the profit ($1000) from Star Singers Stage show was donated to SightLife for their cornea transplant projects in Kerala. Another $400 was donated to S.O.S Children’s Village in Alwaye, Kerala to extend KAW’s sponsorship of 3 kids for another 1 year.
Onam—KAW EC 2010 introduced serving Onam Sadya in “Ila” to better align with the cultural tradi-tion. In the past this used to be a buffet.
Sports—Introduced Women’s Cricket & Kids’ Soccer Tournaments
Free Movie— For the first time in the history of Kerala Association, a free (super hit blockbuster “Pranchiyettan The Saint”) movie for Association Members.
Increased Member Benefits—Member families enjoyed a savings of more than $80 and participation in KAW’s stage programs
