INFANT BAPTISMS For children under 7 years of age, the sacrament is celebrated the FIRST Sunday of the month at 2:00 pm. The parents must register in the parish office at least 4 weeks prior to the baptism. Both parents and godparents are expected to attend one catechetical session in advance, on the Wednesday before the baptism, at 7:00 pm.

SACRAMENTS OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION Before being fully initiated into the sacramental life of the Church, children over the age of 7 will need catechetical prepa-ration through the RCIC process. Teenagers and adults will par-ticipate in separate RCIA processes. CONFIRMATION and COMMUNION For those already baptized, preparation for these Sacraments will take place according to the person’s age and knowledge of the Catholic Faith. For further information contact the Office of Faith Formation Program.

MARRIAGES Couples should contact the parish office at least six months in advance to make the proper ar rangements for the Sacrament of Matrimony.

FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK

Dear Parishioners, This is the last week of May and if we look at the calendar celebrations this week there is a momentum or a sense of movement that one can find in the message that each celebration brings. This Monday our nation celebrates Memorial Day. Thursday the church celebrates As-cension Thursday and Friday we celebrate the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. This suc-cession of calendar dates makes me think of our pilgrimage in this world. On Memorial Day we remember those who died in wars. People will go out to visit grave sights of the war dead and place flowers. We respect the sacrifice that they made to follow the call of their country to fight for a cause. They had a duty as members of a nation for which they gave their lives. We do not forget their sacrifice and honor their valor. War is a result of a world divided and sinful. We pray for the end of violence of all kinds and at all levels. On Ascension Thursday we remember the movement of Jesus as he passed from the res-urrection appearances and visible ministry on earth to take his place with his glorified body in heaven. This movement is one that gives us great hope because we celebrate Christ’s victory over death making it only a transition to a greater life that Jesus calls us to in heaven. Old age, sickness, war and disasters can all end our human life but our human life is all a preparation to enter fully into the divine life of Christ after death and to be with Christ forever in heaven. The Feast of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary will be on Friday, the last day of May. We will conclude our month of special remembrance of Mary with this feast that expresses the evangelizing movement of Mary as she visited her cousin, Elizabeth. When Mary visited Eliza-beth, she was pregnant with Jesus in her womb. Mary traveled a distance to share the good news of Christ in her life. This is an inspiring example for us to bring the precious presence of Christ in our lives to others as well. Let us pray that all the youth who received First Commun-ion and Confirmation may imitate Mary by positively responding to Christ in a deeper way after having received those wonderful sacraments. Let us pray to Our Lady of Fatima that we may also be moved to practice our faith with greater love and devotion and thereby give a good ex-ample to each other as well as to these youth who are moving forward in their faith.

MEMORIAL DAY SCHEDULE Next Monday, May 27th is Memorial Day. Please note that there will be NO MASS at 7:00 A.M. and the church will be locked after the 8:30 AM Mass. There will be NO EVENING NOVENA. The rectory will be CLOSED. El próximo lunes 27 de Mayo “MEMORIAL DAY” no habra misa de 7 de la mañana, solamente Misa a las 8:30 am. NO HABRA NOVENA por la noche. La iglesia se cerrará, despues de la misa de las 8:30 am. La Oficina de la rectoria estará CERRADA.

DEL ESCRITORIO DEL PÁRROCO Queridos Feligreses: Esta es la última semana de mayo y si observamos las celebraciones del calendario esta semana, hay un impulso o una sensación de movimiento que uno puede encontrar en el mensaje que trae cada celebración. El lunes nuestra nación celebra el Día de los Caídos. El Jueves la iglesia celebrará la Ascensión del Señor. El viernes celebramos la Visita de la Santísima Virgen María. Esta sucesión de fechas del calendario me hace pensar en nuestra peregrinación en este mundo. El Día de los Caídos recordamos a los que murieron en las guerras. La gente saldrá a visitar las tumbas de los fallecidos en la guerra y colocará flores. Respetamos el sacrificio que hicieron al seguir el llamado de su país para luchar por una causa. Tenían un deber como miembros de una nación por la cual dieron su vida. No olvidemos sus sacrificios y honremos su valor. La guerra es el resultado de un mundo dividido y pecaminoso. Oramos por el fin de la violencia de todo tipo y en todos los niveles. El jueves de la Ascensión recordamos el movimiento de Jesús cuando pasó de las apari-ciones de la resurrección y el ministerio visible en la tierra para tomar su lugar con su cuer-po glorificado en el cielo. Este movimiento es uno que nos da una gran esperanza porque celebramos la victoria de Cristo sobre la muerte, por lo que es solo una transición a una vida más grande a la que Jesús nos llama en el cielo. La vejez, la enfermedad, la guerra y los desastres pueden acabar con nuestra vida humana, pero nuestra vida humana es toda una preparación para entrar plenamente en la vida divina de Cristo después de la muerte y para estar con Cristo para siempre en el cielo. La fiesta de la visitación de la Santísima Virgen María será el viernes, el último día de mayo. Concluiremos nuestro mes de recuerdo especial de María con esta fiesta que expresa el movimiento evangelizador de María cuando visitó a su prima, Isabel. Cuando María visi-tó a Isabel, ya estaba embarazada con Jesús en su vientre. María viajó una distancia para compartir las buenas nuevas de Cristo en su vida. Este es un ejemplo inspirador para que nosotros también llevemos la presencia preciosa de Cristo en nuestras vidas a otros. Oremos para que todos los jóvenes que recibieron la Primera Comunión y la Confirmación puedan imitar a María al responder positivamente a Cristo de una manera más profunda después de haber recibido esos maravillosos sacramentos. Oremos a Nuestra Señora de Fátima para que también podamos movernos a practicar nuestra fe con mayor amor y devoción y, por lo tanto, darnos un buen ejemplo, así como a estos jóvenes que avanzan en su fe.
