INFANT BAPTISMS For children under 7 years of age, the sacrament is celebrated the FIRST Sunday of the month at 2:00 pm. The parents must register in the parish office at least 4 weeks prior to the baptism. Both parents and godparents are expected to attend one catechetical session in advance, on the Wednesday before the baptism, at 7:00 pm.

SACRAMENTS OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION Before being fully initiated into the sacramental life of the Church, children over the age of 7 will need catechetical prepa-ration through the RCIC process. Teenagers and adults will par-ticipate in separate RCIA processes. CONFIRMATION and COMMUNION For those already baptized, preparation for these Sacraments will take place according to the person’s age and knowledge of the Catholic Faith. For further information contact the Office of Faith Formation Program.

MARRIAGES Couples should contact the parish office at least six months in advance to make the proper ar rangements for the Sacrament of Matrimony.

FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK Dear Parishioners, Probably not many pay much attention to the fact that the church year ends this Saturday and we begin the next church year with the first Sunday of Advent. A ball does not drop from the Empire State Building, there are no televised parities or government holidays given. This is in liturgical time. We enter into a different season of the church year. This is another occasion where we are reminded that Christians are in the world but not of the world. This is a message we can get when we reflect on what the church celebrates this weekend. We celebrate the Solemnity of Christ the King this Sunday. This Solemnity was instituted by Pius XI to remind Christians that their allegiance was to their spiritual ruler in heaven as op-posed to earthly supremacy. In the conversation between Jesus and Pilate in the gospel, Pi-late’s aim was to establish whether Jesus was a threat to the Emperor’s power or his own pow-er. Jesus’ aim was to save souls from the corruption that can come from the abuse of power and from all powers of darkness. In this Solemnity we are reminded of what time it is. It is time to acknowledge Christ as King of our lives. We are not in charge of final judgement or the end times but in fact all eternity rests in the hands of God and Christ is the one who offers us salvation. Before the time ends for you and me, let us proclaim Christ as King in our thoughts, words and actions so that we may be welcomed into an eternity of love while all the world and the temporary powers that ex-ist pass away. Happy New Year!

DEL ESCRITORIO DEL PÁRROCO

Queridos Feligreses:

Probablemente no muchos presten mucha atención al hecho de que el año de la iglesia termina este sábado y que comenzamos el próximo año de la iglesia con el primer domingo de Adviento. Desde el Empire State Building una bola no cae, no hay paridades televisadas ni días festivos del gobierno. Esto es en tiempo litúrgico. Entramos en una temporada diferente del año de la iglesia. Esta es otra ocasión en la que se nos recuerda que los cris-tianos están en el mundo pero no del mundo. Este es un mensaje que podemos recibir cuan-do reflexionamos sobre lo que la iglesia celebra este fin de semana. Este domingo celebramos la solemnidad de Cristo Rey. Esta solemnidad fue instituida por Pío XI para recordar a los cristianos que su lealtad era a su gobernante espiritual en el cielo en oposición a la supremacía terrenal. En la conversación entre Jesús y Pilato en el evangelio, el objetivo de Pilato era establecer si Jesús era una amenaza para el poder del Emperador o su propio poder. El objetivo de Jesús era salvar a las almas de la corrupción que puede venir del abuso de poder y de todos los poderes de la oscuridad. En esta solemnidad, se nos recuerda qué hora es. Es hora de reconocer a Cristo como Rey de nuestras vidas. No estamos a cargo del juicio final ni de los tiempos finales, pero de hecho, toda la eternidad descansa en las manos de Dios y Cristo es el que nos ofrece la salvación. Calendar Meeting

There will be a meeting of all parish groups on November 28 at 7 PM in the Rectory to develop the parish calendar for January through June 2019. Each group is requested to forward their proposed dates for meeting and activities to the Rectory before November 14 and send a representative to the meeting on November 28.
