Dear Family,

How do you recognize someone? Usually we rely on something about that person that stood out to us,

perhaps it is something about the way they dress, the way they speak, or their personality. As priests we

interact with so many individuals and groups that at times things can get a bit confusing. Thank God for

staff to help us fill in the gaps and remember certain people. Today the disciples of John the Baptist are

looking for answers. John has been taken prisoner and they have been tasked with asking Jesus if He is

the one whom they were looking for. Could this really be the one that John preached about and how

would they know for sure? Jesus’ response to the disciples is interesting, He simply tells them to report

what they see: “the blind regain their sight, the lame walk…” Jesus’ actions speak for themselves and we

recognize Him by those effects of His presence in the world. Do we recognize Jesus already working in

our lives? Do we recognize He is among us by the great things He has accomplished in and through us?

Or do we ignore His presence because are so caught up with other things and miss Him altogether who

stands ready to heal, reconcile, and give us new life? Deeper still, do we recognize our need for Jesus, the

need for His healing amid our brokenness?

In his joy, Fr Daniel

My Dear Parishioners,

As another successful Parish Bazaar comes to a close, I find myself filled with

a profound love and gratitude of you, my parishioners, and the love and

support you have for your parish. Together, we have revived the

OLOG Bazaar and have seen it grow throughout the years. This year was no

exception. I would like to take a moment to express my heartfelt thanks to all

who were involved in the success of this year’s bazaar. From the volunteers at

the actual event, to those who worked behind the scenes, for those of you who

collected contributions or donated something of your own, and of course to all

of you who attended the events of the day and offered your support in any way,

no matter how big or small…….. Muchisimas Gracias! The Bazaar would not

be as successful or filled with love and fellowship, without you.

A full financial report will be published in the bulletin in the coming weeks.

Please wait with patient vigilance as we compile the results.

Fr Daniel Gutierrez
