200 Elderly Re"red Chicago Priests Depend On You,
And We S"ll Depend On Them Fund For Re"red Priests The Second Collec"on this weekend is for the Fund For Re"red Priests.
This is the Only Annual Collec"on for Re"red Priests of the Archdiocese of
Chicago. Increasing costs for care facili"es, prescrip"on drugs,
hospitaliza"on, and pension benefits all contribute to the fact that Re"red
Chicago Archdiocesan Priests needed almost $7 Million in 2014.
Is there any good news? Yes, at least 100 priests who are able, help out
each weekend in priest-short parishes. Some take over priestless parishes
un"l a Pastor can be found. Re"red Priests also o%en preside at bap"sms,
weddings, and funerals of old friends and past parishioners. Please
consider Chicago’s Archdiocesan Re"red Priests in your will. We need
each other now. Thank you for your sacrifice and generosity!
A Note From The Pastor…
Summer has arrived, and I failed to men"on in
my column last week that the Summer Daily Mass
Schedule is in effect. Daily Mass is now at 8AM
Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday through
Saturday.
This weekend we have a Second Collec"on for
the Fund For Re"red Priests. Please note that this
collec"on is specifically for Re"red Priests of the
Archdiocese of Chicago only. Envelopes are
available on the tables by the exits of Church.
A few upcoming events to put on your
calendar: First we will celebrate a Mass to honor
the Blessed Virgin Mary under her "tle of Our
Lady of Perpetual Help. The Mass will be on
Saturday, June 24th, at 2PM with the Lake County
Filipino Choir singing, and a Recep"on in the Parish Center a%erwards. Second, we
will have our Annual Renewal of Wedding Vows at all of the Masses on the Weekend
of June 24th–25th.
When submi-ng our Budget to the Archdiocese of Chicago a few months ago,
they advised me of the need to review staffing in effort to have a Balanced Budget.
In an effort to cut costs, we will slightly reduce our Office Hours. Effec"ve July 1st,
our new Parish Office Hours will be Monday–Thursday 8:30AM to 4PM, and Fridays
8:30AM un"l 12 Noon.
In next week’s bulle"n, I will provide an update on the Renew My Church Ini"a"ve
as there will be an upcoming mee"ng for all Priests in the Archdiocese of Chicago.
I want to con"nue to remind you that, as an OLH Parishioner, you have access to
the Formed Website: (h<ps://formed.org). Just register, and then logon using our
Parish Code QHVFMY.
Let us pray in thanksgiving for all of the Re"red Priests of the Archdiocese of
Chicago, for the success of the Renew My Church Ini"a"ve, and for our search to find
the right Candidate to lead our School.
God Bless,
Fr. Paul

Ten Commandments Group Study
Being Offered This Summer! Jesus said, “If you love Me, you will keep My
Commandments.” (–John 14:15).
But what does that mean? How well do you know
the Commandments? Would you like to gain a deeper
understanding of them?
The plan is to take one Commandment each week,
and dive deeper into its’ meaning with a group of friends this summer.
We will gather on Tuesday Evenings in the Holy Child Center (house on the east side of the Church) from
7:30-9PM (study follows Outdoor Sta"ons of the Cross from 6:30-7:15PM.)
This Class will be held this Tuesday, June 13th, at 7:30PM, and concludes on Tuesday, August 29th. You can
s"ll join at any "me, you do not have to a<end every Class. There will be No Classes on June 27th or July 4th.
You do not have to come every week to be part of the group study.
There is no fee to par"cipate, you just need to bring a “Catechism Of The Catholic
Church” with you each week.
If you do not already own a copy, you can pick one up at almost any bookstore or online
book retailer. A free online version is available as well on: www.usccb.org.
The “Catechism Of The Catholic Church” is a wonderful resource to explain the
Commandments, and other teachings of the Church. By reading and discussing it together,
we will all gain a much deeper understanding of what it means to love God and love
others.
If you have any ques"ons, or would like to register, please contact Brenda Hernandez at
(224) 420-0698, or E-mail her at: [email protected].

Eucharis"c Adora"on! When Pope John Paul II visited Bal"more a few years ago, one
of his stops was at St. Mary’s Seminary. The Pope decided to go
inside the Chapel and pray before the Blessed Sacrament.
Immediately the Secret Service sprang into ac"on. Before he
could go in, they went through the Chapel with their dogs, trained to find
people hiding or trapped in buildings a%er disasters. One of the dogs got to
the altar where the tabernacle was, and he began to whine. The trainer
looked to see that there was no one there, and he tried to pull the dog away,
but the dog would not leave. He kept sniffing and whining at the tabernacle,
telling his trainer that there was a person really there. And unbeknownst to
the trainer, there was a real person there...JESUS. The Pope came in and knelt
down to worship Him.
May the heart of Jesus in the Most Blessed Sacrament be praised, adored,
and loved with grateful affec"on, at every moment, in all the tabernacles of
the world, un"l the end of "me. Amen.
Do something special this Summer, please consider coming to Eucharis"c
Adora"on on Thursdays at 1PM, where you will have an opportunity to spend
"me with the Lord Jesus, in the Blessed Sacrament each week where we can
ASK HIM anything. Come, bring your whole family, spend some "me with the
Lord, and receive His blessings! He is wai"ng for you!
