MOST SWEET JESUS, Redeemer of the human race, look down upon us humbly prostrate
before you. We are yours, and yours we wish to be; but to be more surely united with you,
behold each one of us freely consecrates himself/herself today to your Most Sacred Heart.
Many indeed have never known you; many, too, despising your precepts, have rejected you.
Have mercy on them all, most merciful Jesus, and draw them to your Sacred Heart.
Be King, O Lord, not only of the faithful who have never forsaken you, but also of the prodigal
children who have abandoned you; grant that they may quickly return to their Father's house,
lest they die of wretchedness and hunger. Be King of those who are deceived by erroneous
opinions, or whom discord keeps aloof, and call them back to the harbor of truth and the unity
of faith, so that soon there may be but one flock and one Shepherd. Grant, O Lord, to your
Church assurance of freedom and immunity from harm; give tranquility of order to all nations;
make the earth resound from pole to pole with one cry: Praise to the divine Heart that
wrought our salvation; to it be glory and honor for ever. Amen.

NOVEMBER DEVOTION:
THE HOLY SOULS IN PURGATORY
Since the 16th century, Catholic piety has
assigned entire months to special devotions.
As a reminder of our duty to pray for the
suffering faithful in Purgatory, the Church
has dedicated the month of November to
the Holy Souls. Catholicculture.org
SOLEMNITY
OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST
KING OF THE UNIVERSE
"I am the Alpha and the Omega," says the LORD GOD,
"the one who is and who was and who is to come, the almighty."
Rev 1:8
On the last Sunday of each liturgical year, the Church celebrates the
SOLEMNITY OF CHRIST THE KING.
Pope Pius XI instituted this feast in 1925 to
respond to growing nationalism and secular-
ism. He recognized that these related
societal ills would breed increasing hostility
against the Church. He reminds the faithful
that while governments and philosophies
come and go, Christ reigns as king forever.
- USCCB
THE FEAST OF CHRIST THE KING was established by Pope Pius XI in 1925 as an
antidote to secularism, a way of life which leaves God out of man's thinking and living and organizes his life as if God did not exist. The feast is intended to proclaim in a striking and effective manner Christ's royalty over individuals, families, society, governments, and nations. In the 1925 Encyclical which institutes the feast, Quas Primus, Pope Pius XI outlines the long history of liturgical reference to Jesus Christ as King as well as Savior, and speaks of the evils that have come about as a consequence of the failure of nations to acknowledge that there is One who governs above them:
“If We ordain that the whole Catholic world shall revere Christ as King, We shall minister to the need of the present day, and at the same time provide an excellent remedy for the plague which now infects society. The rebellion of individuals and states against the authority of Christ has produced deplorable consequences…
“We lamented these in the Encyclical Ubi arcano; we lament them today: the seeds of discord sown far and wide; those bitter enmities and rivalries between nations, which still hinder so much the cause of peace; that insatiable greed which is so o ften hidden under a pretense of public spirit and patriotism, and gives rise to so many private quarrels; a blind and immoderate selfishness, making men seek nothing but their own comfort and advantage, and measure everything by these; no peace in the home, because men have forgotten or neglect their duty; the unity and stability of the family undermined; society in a word, shaken to its foundations and on the way to ruin.
“We firmly hope, however, that the feast of the Kingship of Christ, which in future will be yearly observed, may hasten the return of society to our loving Savior.”
From the Desk of the Pastor
In the month of November, we consider the four last things: death, purgatory, heaven and hell.
Chapter 3, Article 12
THE FOUR LAST THINGS, IN BRIEF
The Four Last Things
Selected Excerpts from the Catechism of
the Catholic Church
Every man receives his eternal recompense in his immortal soul from the moment of his death in a particular judgment by Christ, the judge of the living and the dead.
"We believe that the souls of all who die in Christ's grace . . . are the People of God beyond death. On the day of resurrection, death will be definitively conquered, when these souls will be reunited with their bodies" (Paul VI, CPG § 28).
"We believe that the multitude of those gathered around Jesus and Mary in Paradise forms the Church of heaven, where in eternal blessedness they see God as he is and where they are also, to various degrees, associated with the holy angels in the divine governance exercised by Christ in glory, by interceding for us and helping our weakness by their frater-nal concern" (Paul VI, CPG § 29).
Those who die in God's grace and friendship imperfectly purified, although they are assured of their eternal salvation, undergo a purification after death, so as to achieve the holiness necessary to enter the joy of God.
By virtue of the "communion of saints," the Church commends the dead to God's mercy and offers her
prayers, especially the holy sacrifice of the Eucharist, on their behalf.
Following the example of Christ, the Church warns the faithful of the "sad and lamentable reality of eternal death" (GCD 69), also called "hell."
Hell's principal punishment consists of eternal separation from God in whom alone man can have the life and happiness for which he was created and for which he longs.
The Church prays that no one should be lost: "Lord, let me never be parted from you." If it is true that no one can save himself, it is also true that God "desires all men to be saved" (1 Tim 2:4), and that for him "all things are possible" (Mt 19:26).
"The holy Roman Church firmly believes and confesses that on the Day of Judgment all men will appear in their own bodies before Christ's tribunal to render an account of their own deeds" (Council of Lyons II [1274]:DS 859; cf. DS 1549).
At the end of time, the Kingdom of God will come in its fullness. Then the just will reign with Christ for ever, glorified in body and soul, and the material universe itself will be transformed. God will then be "all in all" (1 Cor 15:28), in eternal life.
Youth and Family
Who is worthy of being a king?
For much of human history, kingship was understood to be the highest mortal authority known to mankind. A king was the head and leader of his people, governing and protecting their lives according to the law of the land and through his own royal decrees. His power was his birthright—the land of his kingdom had been owned and cared for by his family before him, and his duty was to ensure that it continued to grow and prosper for the good of its people and the honor of his name. While some kings abused their power, most saw their position as a solemn duty, perhaps even a burden, because it is difficult to reign fairly and justly when one is but a mortal man. The greatest authority in all of existence, of course, is God Himself, and therefore Jesus Christ, who is God. He, too, possesses a kingdom and governs a people—we, the members of His Church. He is our ruler and protector, the authority to which we must always defer, the Lord whom we serve on the spiritual battlefield of daily life.
FAMILY ACTIVITY How do those who are subjects behave toward royalty? Read today’s Gospel, John 18:33b-37. Ask your family to discuss these questions: Does Pilate treat Jesus like royalty? What does Jesus say about his kingdom? Talk about how your family shows honor and obedience to Christ our King. Pray together the Lord’s Prayer and ask God to help your family behave like honorable and loyal subjects of Christ the King.

Holy Hour of Reparation Intentions of Victims of Unchaste Priests
Fridays 7:00pm. During this Holy Hour, participants join in alternating vocal prayer & silent adoration, in reparation for the outrages and sacrilege committed by fallen clergy, and for the healing and intentions of their victims, and of the wound on the Bride of Christ which these crimes cause. We also pray for the authentic sanctification of our priests and bishops, and of our religious and seminarians.

Total Consecration To Jesus through Mary
Consecration means to set aside for a sacred purpose. Total Consecration to Jesus as set forth by St. Louis Marie de Montfort is a beautiful exercise to increase your spirituality and ability to truly serve our Lord Jesus Christ. Mary’s life was set aside for the sole purpose of serving our Lord. By following her example, we, too, can completely give ourselves to Christ in a fundamental way that consecrates us to Him. We give our lives to Him in service and love.
