Note from the Pastor: On October 15, we are celebrating one of the most important doctors of the church, the Carmelite saint, St Teresa of Avila. Last weekend, in my reflection about St. Francis of Assisi, one of his biggest concerns was to have a special place to worship God. The difference between St. Francis and St. Teresa is that Francis helped to rebuild a church and Teresa was building convents, where the nuns could feel the experience of God, sharing their spiritual growth with other people. In order to build these 32 convents throughout Spain, St. Teresa was always worried about getting the money for the convents. She taught us that we need to give to God monetarily in order to have worthy places for Him to give us spiritual experiences. St. Teresa was always hugging St. Joseph saying that he can move our hearts and protect Jesus’ work because St. Jospeh will love us as he loved Jesus. I invite you to have faith as St. Teresa did, in St. Joseph and that he will protect you and your family if you help take care of the needs of our church. I am offering you very clearly the ways that we can be successful in fundraising. 1. Asking for donations in person or online at
mtcarmelalive.org 2. Being active with the Sunday breakfasts (if you
would like to cook a Sunday breakfast, you can be put on the schedule)
3. Selling your raffle tickets. If we sell all the raffle tickets, we can raise $160,000
4. We are putting together a cook off contest on November 4th and a Festival on November 5th. I am thinking that if we work together we can raise $50,000.

Nota del Pastor: El 15 de Octubre celebraremos una de las más importantes doctoras de la iglesia, la Santa Carmelita, Santa Teresa de Ávila. La semana anterior, en mi reflexión acerca de San Francisco de Asís, una de sus más grandes preocupaciones era tener un lugar especial para adorar a Dios. La diferencia entre San Francisco y Santa Teresa es que San Francisco ayudó a reconstruir una iglesia y Teresa estuvo construyendo conventos, a donde las monjas pudieran sentir la experiencia de Dios, compartiendo su crecimiento espiritual con otras personas. Para construir estos 32 conventos en toda España, Santa Teresa estaba siempre preocupada por conseguir el dinero para los conventos. Ella nos enseñó que tenemos que dar a Dios monetariamente para tener lugares dignos para que Él nos dé experiencias espirituales. Santa Teresa estaba siempre abrazando a San José, diciendo que él puede mover nuestros corazones y proteger la obra de Jesús porque San José nos amará como él amó a Jesús. Te invito a tener fe como lo hizo Santa Teresa en San José y protegerá a ti y a tu familia si ayudas a cuidar las necesidades de nuestra iglesia. Estoy ofreciendo claramente las maneras en las que podemos tener éxito en la recaudación de fondos: 1. Pidiendo donaciones en persona o en línea en

gustaría cocinar un desayuno de domingo, se puede poner en el calendario) 3. Vendiendo sus boletos de rifa. Si vendemos todos los
boletos de la rifa, podemos recaudar $ 160,000 4. Estamos organizando un concurso de cocineros el 4 de
noviembre y un Festival el 5 de noviembre. Estoy pensando que si trabajamos juntos podemos recaudar $ 50,000.

29th Sunday in Ordinary Time The prophet Isaiah writes of God who knows us, loves us and calls us by name. We are reminded that there is no other God besides him. Saint Paul, beginning his Letter to the Thessalonians, affirms their work of faith and love, saying he knows they were chosen by God. In Matthew’s Gospel, the Pharisees hope to trick Jesus with their question about paying taxes. Jesus tells them to pay to Caesar what is his, and to give God what belongs to him.

Confirmation All Souls Candles All Souls Day candles will be displayed at the All Souls Mass on Thursday, November 2. Blessed rosary are included with orders for a limited time and while supplies last. Pre-sale $7 by October 29. 2018 Confirmation II candidates are accepting orders this weekend. Community Rosary Parishioners are invited to pray the rosary on Sunday, October 22 at 11:30 AM at the Rosary Walk. We will dedicate the rosary to Faith Formation catechists, OLMC School faculty and staff, and all who are in education. 2018 Confirmation II candidates and families will lead the Glorious Mysteries. Fourth Sunday Candidates Session and Mass Confirmation II candidates are reminded that the Fourth Sunday Candidates Session will be held on Sunday, October 22 at 9:30AM at the Parish Center. Candidates will attend the 12:00 PM Mass as a class.
