Join us for Coffee SundayJoin us in the lower church today, Sunday, Nov. 24, after the 7:30 and 9 a.m. Masses, for coffee, pastry, and fellowship.

Low-gluten hosts are availableIf you have a gluten allergy, we have low-gluten hosts in the sacristy. If you would like a low-gluten host consecrated for you at Mass, please stop in the sacristy a few minutes before Mass so we can prepare accordingly. If you are receiving a gluten-free host, come up after the Lamb of God prayer and stand next to the altar servers to receive communion. For those who have a gluten allergy that cannot handle even a low-gluten host, you may receive from the Precious Blood, since both the Eucharist and the Precious Blood are fully Je-sus Christ.

Mass of Thanksgiving on Wednesday at 7On Wednesday, Nov. 27, we will have a special Mass of Thanks-giving in the church at 7 p.m. It is a wonderful opportunity for us to focus on giving God thanks for the many blessings we have received in our lives. Also, if anyone is able, we will take a collection of donations of non-perishable foods at the Wednesday Mass to give toward our food pantry. On Thanksgiving Day, Mass will be at 9 a.m. (and there will not be the usual 6:30 p.m. Mass).

OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, KING OF THE UNIVERSEPastor’s PageGreatest Pasta Dinner in HistoryOn Saturday, Dec. 7, at 5:30 p.m., the Men’s Group and our upcoming Con-firmation class will be hosting a pasta dinner at the Parish Center. It is an all-you-can-eat dinner with salad, bread, their world-famous homemade pasta and meatballs (OK, maybe not world famous, but work with me), and des-sert. The Men’s Group is preparing the food and the Confirmation class will be serving the meal. Tickets can be bought after the Masses this weekend and next weekend. Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for children. What they raise will be going towards the cost of those going to the March for Life in Washington, D.C., this January.

Confirmation Time ChangeFor many years. we have had Confirma-tions celebrated in the fall of the high school sophomore year, but we will be changing it to the late spring of fresh-men year. The reason for the change is Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church in Seekonk has a smaller class, so they were asked by the diocese to celebrate the sacrament with a neighboring parish (the diocesan policy is any parishes with less than 25 candidates should celebrate the sacrament with another parish). Queen of Martyrs customarily celebrates Confirmation in the spring of their freshmen year of high school. Though we have customarily celebrat-ed the sacrament in the Fall, we still finished our Confirmation classes the previous spring (in the summer, we had the Confirmation retreat, and this fall, we had an evening for the candidates, their sponsors, and parents, so these would be the only things that would be changing for our regular schedule). So, Our Lady Queen of Martyrs will join us here when we celebrate the sacrament. Most likely they will be celebrated in May, and like in the past, we will have two Masses to celebrate Confirmation (we will not know the dates until most likely early January, since the Bishop’s office determines the dates).

Maintenance Position Last year, Smokey Saleeba retired as our long-time maintenance man. He was working full-time for us and I hired Dave LeClair to replace him as our new part-time maintenance worker. Dave also works part-time maintenance at Holy Family Church in East Taunton and has been a great employee for us. But, there are some changes at Holy Family, so Dave will be taking on more hours there and cutting back here. So, I am looking to hire a new part-time maintenance worker. The responsi-bilities will include carrying out snow removal (we own a plow and salter). The part-time position would be working each week just under 20 hours a week. If you are interested in the position, please contact Fr. Kevin.

Entrance Exams for Feehan, StangOn Saturday, Dec. 7, at 7:45 a.m., Bishop Feehan High School in Attleboro will be having their entrance exams for incom-ing freshmen. Bishop Stang High School in North Dartmouth will be offering entrance exams on Dec. 7 and Dec. 14 at 8 a.m. One should bring a #2 pencil (no calculators) and there is a $20 registra-tion fee. One does not need to pre-reg-ister for the exam, but if you would like to, go the schools’ websites. If you are interested in sending your son or daughter to Feehan but know financially it may be too difficult, please contact Fr. Kevin and we can see what Feehan may be able to offer for assistance (also if the entrance exam fee is a concern, please contact Fr. Kevin).

Novena Here Dec. 1-9Next week we will be having our parish novena for Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception. Because Dec. 8 is falling on a Sunday, the liturgical celebration will be on Monday, Dec. 9, this year. So our novena will be from Dec. 1-9. Each night we will have different priests or deacons preaching on the theme of Our Lady and the Eucharist, since as a parish we will be celebrating 20 years of perpetual adoration this January. Each

Father Kevin Cooknight will be a holy hour beginning at 7 p.m. and there will be a talk given, a chance for confessions, the praying of the rosary, and Benediction.

This year our theme is focusing on the Eucharist and Our Lady. Speakers are: Dec. 1: Fr. Ryan Healy, The Eucharist and SilenceDec. 2: Fr. Jay Mello, The Eucharist as the Center of Our LivesDec. 3: Fr. Matthew Gill, The Eucharist and PurityDec. 4: Fr. Chris Peschel, The Eucharist and VocationsDec. 5: Fr. George Harrison, The Eucha-rist and True Worship of GodDec. 6: Deacon Steve Booth, The Eucha-rist and Our LadyDec. 7: Fr. Tom Kocik, The Eucharist and MarriageDec. 8: Fr. Kevin Cook, The Eucharist and Adoration of the LordDec. 9: Mass of Our Lady of the Immac-ulate Conception.

Hope you can make it as many evenings as possible.

Marian Medal to Norman BowlinThis year the Marian Medal ceremony is being celebrated on Sunday, Dec. 1. This year the recipient for our parish is Norman Bowlin. Norman has been a great example of faith for so many over the years. He not only has served as an extraordinary minister of holy com-munion and member of the Knights of Columbus, but even more importantly, he has shown a great example of living his vocation of marriage. The ceremony will be in the context of a prayer service at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Fall River at 3 p.m. All are welcome to attend.

— Fr. Kevin

Society of St. Vincent de Paul

Whoever despises the hungry comes up short, but happy the one who is kind to the poor. Psalm 14:21

Today’s Gospel speaks about the two thieves who were hung on the cross alongside Christ. Saint Augustine tells us, “Two criminals were crucified with Christ. One was saved; do not despair. One was not; do not presume.” When you show your love for the poor through your prayers and generosity, you should have great hope for your just rewards from heaven. On behalf of the poor, thank you and God bless you.

If you know anybody who needs help, contact the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, 401-603-8888.

The next meeting will be Tuesday, Dec. 10, at 7 p.m. in the low-er church. All are welcome to attend.

The Chaplet of Divine Mercy is prayed in the adoration chap-el Monday through Saturday at 3 p.m. A rosary for priests and all vocations is prayed in the adora-tion chapel every Thursday at 2:30 p.m. A novena to St. Anne for the protection of children is prayed every Friday at noon in the adoration chapel.A statue of the Blessed Mother, located in the first confes-sional in the adoration chapel, can be borrowed for one week. Please use the sign-out sheet.

Please know that each week as the Rehoboth Food Pantry opens and helps people from our community you have all played a part in that. We say a heart-felt thank you and God bless you all.
