Mass Reservations A reservation system for Sunday Masses is in place with
a seating capacity of 80 per Mass. This reflects 25% of
our official capacity. Although the capacity was raised to
34%, OLS will continue to retain the 25%. If a particular
Mass “maxes out” at 25% for three consecutive weeks,
the “Re-opening Task Force” will be consulted as to how
to best accommodate the additional attendees. We
continue to encourage all parishioners to use the
reservation link which is located on our website
www.olscc.com Please print your confirmation and
bring it to Mass with you. Members of the Task Force
will be on hand before and after Mass to assist attendees.
Family “units” may sit together.
Remember…You do not have an obligation to go to
Mass during the coronavirus pandemic. Cardinal Dolan
has dispensed us from the obligation to attend Sunday
Mass at this time. Please join us for Mass in the church
only when you feel safe and comfortable to do so. As an
alternative, you can watch Mass on-line or on T.V. and
make an Act of Spiritual Communion (see below) when
you are unable to physically receive the Eucharist.
FYI…The 12 noon Sunday Mass will be held
outdoors (weather permitting) until further
notice. Parishioners are asked to register, wear
masks, bring your own chair and maintain social
distancing.
Prayer for a Spiritual Communion:
My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the Most
Holy Sacrament. I love you above all things and I
desire to receive you in my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment receive you
sacramentally,
Come at least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace you as if you were already there
And unite myself wholly to you.
Never permit me to be separated from you. Amen.
The Sanctuary Lamp is lit
This week in memory of
Kathleen & Daniel Moriarty
And the
Bread and Wine are offered
This week in memory of
Alice & Vincent Mulcahy
By their loving family.
Twenty-seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time October 4, 2020
A NOTE FROM FR. TIM
October is the Month of the Holy Rosary – a time for
special devotion to Our Lady. For centuries Catholics
have turned to the Blessed Virgin Mary, asking for her
intercession in times of need by praying the Rosary. This
great prayer, whose origins date before the 12th century,
uses a meditative repetition of prayers that invoke the
intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary as she leads us to
consider the mysteries in the life of her Divine Son, Jesus.
The purpose of the Rosary is to help us meditate on the
great mysteries of our salvation. Pius XII called it a
compendium of the gospel. The main focus is on Jesus---
his birth, life, death and resurrection. The Our Father
reminds us that Jesus’ Father is the initiator of salvation.
The Hail Mary reminds us to join with Mary in
contemplating these mysteries. They also makes us aware
that Mary was and is intimately joined with her Son in all
the mysteries of his earthly and heavenly existence. The
Glory Be reminds us that the purpose of all life is the
glory of the Trinity. The rosary appeals to many. It is
simple. There were fifteen mysteries (joyful, sorrowful
and glorious). In 2020, Pope John Paul added the
Mysteries of Light to this devotion. Venerable Archbishop
Fulton Sheen once said “The power of the Rosary is
beyond description.”
Four “spiritual” reminders:
~ October 7 is the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary.
~The Rosary is prayed after the 8:00 a.m. Morning Mass
Mondays - Saturdays. Please join us!
~ During the 5 p.m., 10:00 a.m. & 12 noon Masses this
month our Offertory Hymn will be a Marian hymn.
~All are encouraged to pray the Rosary during the month
of October.
BLESSING OF THE ANIMALS
This Sunday, October 4, our parish will
remember St. Francis of Assisi, one of the
most beloved saints in the history of the
Church. A blessing of animals will take
place in front of the church from 1:00 p.m.
to 2:00 p.m. For the safety of all our pets and people,
please ensure your pets are properly leashed and secured
in some way. All participants are required to wear masks
and practice social distancing.

O.L.S.’s Religious Education program
began 2 weeks ago Our Religious Education program will be different than
in the past as we deal with the corona virus pandemic.
From September 2020 - January 2021, our program will
be a hybrid model, family-based (remote learning) with
at-home assignments and monthly in-person catechesis
(family gatherings) in the church which is already set up
for “distancing” according to NY State guidelines. The
program will be reviewed prior to the start of the
January 2021- May 2021 semester.
This is your last chance to register. All
families must be registered parishioners of O.L.S. parish
in order for your children to attend our Religious
Education program. If you have any questions or for
registration forms, email Mrs. Jen DeMilio at
[email protected] or call her at 914-949-3896.
This Sunday’s Readings
First Reading: Isaiah 5:1-7
This passage about the failure of the Lord’s vineyard is a
metaphor for the ingratitude of the people of Israel and
Judah. In tones of sadness and rebuke, the Lord asks,
“What more was there to do for my vineyard?”
Second Reading: Philippians 4:6-9
In a moving appeal to the Philippians, Paul exhorts them
to embrace all that is pure, decent, and admirable; then
God’s peace will be theirs.
Gospel: Matthew 21:33-43
In another rebuke to the chief priests and the elders, Jesus
recounts a parable in which the owner of a vineyard
leases his vineyard to tenant farmers. When the owner
sends his servants and even his son to claim his rightful
share of the crops, the tenants kill all of them. With some
bitterness, Jesus warns the chief priests that “the
Kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given
to people that will yield a rich harvest.
