Dear Parishioners, Christmas—“that time of year when the world falls in love.” Fall in love again with the Child who came down to earth to share our humanity, and through His death gave us all the gift of eternal life. Hear the music of this blessed season with renewed joy. From the angels’ first “Glory to God in the Highest” to a young child’s first attempt to “Silent Night,” let the world Resound with songs of praise. Reach out to those in need - physical, financial or spiritual. May every stocking be filled with gifts of Christ’s mercy, peace, health, and love. Invite a friend to come to Mass on Christmas. Welcome all those who have been estranged from the Church with open arms and the certainty that they have “come home.” Seek the comfort of Christ’s love in the Eucharist and share a quiet moment of reflection in thanksgiving for all His many gifts. Take this opportunity to make Christ and His undying love for us the center of this holy season and every day of the New Year to come.

Capital Campaign Monthly Report Capital Campaign Results to Date

Number of Pledges/Gifts: 340 Amount Pledged: $1,695,625

Amount Paid To Date: $474,179 Delinquent: $11,856

The redemption phase of pledges continues with great success. Thank you for your timely payments. Should you need to adjust your schedule for any rea-son, please speak with Fr. Bob so that we are aware. From the initial payments received, our Annual Catholic Appeal goal of $93,090 was paid off. Now we share 50% of payments received with the diocese until our campaign goal is satisfied. That means we now have about $190,544 available to us for our pro-jects. Permits are being secured to begin work on the two small parking areas and we hope to be able to com-plete the larger parking lot/playground this summer. The church roof will then be replaced the following year, in 2018. We will not have sufficient funds at that time but will need to borrow from reserves and pay ourselves back as pledges are fulfilled. Thank you again for your generous support. New pledges are welcome. OLBS ALUMNI SAVE THE DATES

“How the Grinch Stole Christmas” is about a jealous critter, posing as Santa Claus, who steals all the gifts set aside for children. A little girl spies the theft; the rest of the children, undaunted by their loss, celebrate Christ-mas anyway. There are all sorts of Grinches who steal Christmas. Just think of the moves to call it “Xmas” or of Christ-mas stamps without the Madonna and Child. Less overtly, we are treated to phrases like “Happy Holi-days” and “Season’s Greetings.” In a way, that’s robbery. After all, the only reason we are celebrating is a baby whose birth changed the course of history. Wishing you a blessed Christmas as you celebrate the birth of your Savior!
