NEWS FROM THE NEST Friday night, we celebrated Halloween at our 9th Annual OLL Trunk or Treat. What a “Spooktacular” event it was – and what a turnout! From the rocking DJ to the awesome trunks, everyone in attendance had a fun-filled time, and seemed to enjoy the different location. We would like to thank our Committee Chairpersons Rachel Jones and Brooke Paulin for making the event such a huge success. Thanks also to the committee volunteers, all parent helpers, and everyone who hosted a trunk or tent, for creating such a safe and fun environment for our OLL families. The trunks, tents, and costumes were all so creative! Thank you for helping raise money for the PTCC to support the events for our children throughout the year. K4J BOXES OF JOY Help K4J spread Christmas blessings! The K4J girls are on a mission. Help them bless children in a developing country with gifts on Christmas morning. For many, this will be their first gift ever! Pack a Box of Joy with your family with toys, cards, and other necessities from the attached packing list, and help a child in extreme poverty experience the joy of Christmas. It’s as easy as: 1. Grab a shoebox or request a Box of Joy. 2. Pack with small toys and necessities from the packing list attached to Tuesday Note. Please include the postage. 3. Drop off at the OLL Sunroom on 11/2/18 from 2-4pm. The K4J elves will do the rest. Contact Rebecca Sandoz at (985) 705-3329 for more info or for additional drop times. Visit www.CrossCatholic.org/BoxofJoy to see the amazing work this group does in our developing countries.

ROSARY GROUP All Our Lady of the Lake School parents and grandparents are invited to pray the rosary. The OLL School Rosary Group will typically meet the third Wednesday of the month at 7:45 a.m. in the church. Check the schedule below, as some months are irregular. The rosary is a powerful prayer that allows us to meditate on the life of Jesus and to get closer to Christ through his blessed mother, Mary. In the 1950s, Pope Pius XII said, “We put great confidence in the Holy Rosary for the healing of evils which afflict our times.” Those words ring true still today. Join us as we implore the help of Our Lady and pray this powerful prayer, The Rosary, each month.

Dear Parents,

Our Lady of the Lake School will be assembling Thanksgiving baskets for the less fortunate families in our community. As always, we encourage children to become involved with this project by donating food to families in need. Each class has been assigned certain food items, as is referenced in the attached list. We are asking each child to bring the assigned food to assist in creating the baskets. In addition, we have requested each class to create a Thanksgiving card to be included with the basket. We hope to assemble 33 baskets, representing each class at OLL.

Please note, we will kick off our food drive with on Friday, November 2nd. In anticipation of the LSU v. Alabama game, students may donate $2 or more to wear purple, gold, or LSU, and all money raised will be used to purchase turkeys for each basket. We will also begin our collection of the assigned non-perishable food during the week of November 2nd. The deadline for your child to bring in his/her donation is Tuesday, November 13th .

If you have any questions or would like to assist in preparing the baskets, please feel free to contact me. Thank you for your generosity.

God Bless,

Cara Joseph (985-778-7597) [email protected] Thanksgiving Basket Project Committee Chair
