The last time we did an analysis and pressed the airport for improvements, it resulted in the NE T’s which benefit the tenants and the airport. We believe that the implementation of a municipal self-serve fuel system will benefit all. There is profit here for the airport. OUR MESSAGE TO THE CHICAGO EXECUTIVE AIRPORT COMMUNITY

We’ve been asking airport management for affordable fuel. FOR A LONG TIME.

Most, if not all, of our members go out of their way to purchase 100LL elsewhere, because we can’t justify the high cost of buying it at our home airport. See ?

We began years ago by presenting our request to the FBOs and airport management asking if they had any objections. We received favorable responses from most. You want names? We can give you names.

Our largest FBO then presented the option of buying fuel from a truck parked on the field at a reduced rate. The rate was not reduced to a price even close to nearby sellers, and the sale was never even proposed as a long range solution. We want municipal fuel—from our landlord—and with a commitment to continue a program if it is successful. So we asked the airport again and the airport asked us to prepare financials.

We had a professional accountant prepare a cost analysis. We received a quotation from a fuel supplier. We investigated similar airports who had begun using self serve fuel and found most had no adverse impact on existing fuel sellers. This kind of program has been successful elsewhere, in Cook County and at similar size airports in other major cities..

We met with Director Kolssak and presented those financials. We heard nothing more. We asked the airport again, and they asked to see our financials so we presented them again to the Manager and CFO..

We identified with airport management an excellent site, we priced out the cost of the purchase and the installation of the municipal pump, and we pledged 25% of the cost to fund this project.

This month we were told we had not done OUR JOB! We are tenants, OUR JOB is to pay rent and follow the rules. We were asked to sit for mediation—our organization vs. the FBOs!! Mediate what? We are asking our landlord for an improvement in conditions which would benefit tenants, transient traffic, KPWK and the municipal owners. The last time we did an analysis and pressed the airport for improvements, it resulted in the NE T’s which benefit the tenants and the airport. We believe that the implementation of a municipal self-serve fuel system will benefit all.

There is profit here for the airport. They can sell fuel for $3.00 less than the FBOs, to planes that buy it somewhere else. AND MAKE $$$$$
