TOGETHER WE SERVE: Pope Francis has proclaimed this year to be an Extraordinary Jubilee of Mer-cy. It is to be a “year steeped in mercy, so that we can go out to every man and woman, bringing the goodness and tenderness of God!” (cf. Misericordiae Vultus 5) Together We Serve offers us a concrete way to live out the Year of Mercy. We welcome a new partner to our appeal – our northern twin diocese of Mackenzie-Fort Smith. Let us, to-gether as one family in Christ, become effective signs of the Father’s mercy in our lives as we serve our brothers and sisters of the North. For more infor-mation about Together We Serve, please visit www.caedm.ca/WeServe.

MERCY CORNER: Admonish the Sinners and Forgive All

Injuries These are “Spiritual Works of Mercy” that we are called to practice each and every day. We are called to forgive 77x7 meaning that we are always to look upon others with love and a for-giving heart. In this year of mercy you are invited to open your heart to for-giveness, look upon others with love, and not hold on to past wrongs. We are all sinners, we are human, but God gives us new life each day.

The message of the Transfiguration is empty and meaningless if it is not the fact that Jesus was about to suffer and die in order to release God’s transforming power into our humanity. The whole of Christ’s life is meaningless unless it points to the meaning of suffering. Of all of the great founders of religions, Jesus Christ is the only one who enters into suffering, loss, pain and even death itself in order to lead us with Him through it into the resurrec-tion and a higher and better life. Tran-scendence comes only through death and resurrection. That’s the guts of Christiani-ty, a religion that goes way beyond simply being “nice”. Lent moves ahead now toward Easter. Have courage. Make the hard decisions. Move away from merely being comforta-ble and get into the cost of discipleship. There will, of course, be many Herods and Pilates to judge you and mock you. But if you are in Christ then you must live His life and enter into the cost of movement, growth, transformation and transcend-ence. In the entire history of mankind there has not been presented to us any other way to climb, and painfully climb, the mountain of nobility, beauty and God-likeness.

Parish Lenten Mission Theme: “Agents of Mercy” March 13th - 16th at 7:00 pm each night. Fr. Kris Schmidt will be speaking on being Agents of Mercy:

Why Mercy? What is Mercy? And How do we live with Mercy?

Please join us in this Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy in learning how we can be Agents of Mercy in daily life. The Mission will conclude with the Parish Penitential service on March 16th.

Friday Evening Stations and Mass: Pope Francis has many times given us reasons to pray the Stations of the Cross. Here is an example of 8: https://focusoncampus.org/content/why-pray-the-stations-of-the-cross-8-reasons-from-pope-francis. You are invited to follow the pope’s example and join the larger parish community on Friday evenings at 6:30 pm

to pray the stations, they will be immedi-ately followed by Mass.
