The Atlantic County Library System/ Ventnor Branch is YOUR place to be at the shore this summer. In addition to our storytimes, movies, and craft fun we have programs for every member of the family. Something for Everyone ... For adults, meet local authors at our Summer Authors Showcase for one night in July and August. For teens, we have a book discussion with adult books that teens would like. For kids, besides our big Saturday programs we have rearranged our space so that kids can pick out their favorite books in bins at their own height. Something NEW: First Five Years Collection Summer Reading Program Activities A generous donation from one of our patrons has enabled us to create the First Five Years Collection at our branch. Books in this collection are divided by subject. The books are housed in tabletop bins which allow children to easily find their favorite books about Curious George or The Cat in the Hat as well as books by subject, whether it is dinosaurs, trucks, or growing up. Come in and try this innovation with your littlest reader. For adults we will be hosting psychotherapist James Villarreal on June 18 and 25. Mr. Villarreal will lead interactive discussions on the subject of dreams in a series we call Mining the Subconscious. On June 27, kids are invited to Digging for Chips. Pretend to be an archeologist & use your pick to free chocolate chips from their crust. Every Monday in July and the first two in August, kids and teens have a chance to win a prize for each book they read during Library Lotto. On August 1, kids 8 and older are invited to hear Paleontologist Dr. Matt Bannon talk about when dinosaurs roamed the earth. Teen Bash Coming June 22Learn to draw your favorite Japanese and American Manga characters with a lesson by Joe Del Beato. Discover the best pizza around at our pizza taste-off, then play pizza trivia and win a prize. Wind up the afternoon with a showing of a movie where MIB Agent Jay travels back to 1969 and works with a younger Agent Kay to stop the evil villain Boris from destroying the world in the future. More Activities for TeensAtlantic County Library System/Ventnor offers great teen programs as part of our Teen Advisory Board. Visit or call the library at (609) 823-4614 to register for these events.

On July 20, we will have a Manga book discussion with Japanese snacks.

On August 17, we are having a DIY making tie-dye t-shirts. Bring a 100% cotton prewashed white t-shirt. Following a tutorial in shelving teens will be expected to “adopt” a shelf as well as to help prepare some of the programs or create displays, depending upon what they would prefer to do.

A teen book discussion will be held bi-weekly on a new adult book appropriate for teens.

Gathering Wool Every ThursdayIf you like to knit or crochet, we have a knitting group called Gathering Wool. The group meets downstairs on Thursdays at 11:30 a.m. Open to adults. All levels of experience welcome.

Chat and meet your neighbors while you knit or stitch. Bring any project you are working on or come be inspired.

Book Discussion GroupThe Book Discussion group meets one Friday a month. If you are looking for a thought-provoking meeting about the latest in literature this is the group to join. Please call (609) 823-4614 for details.
