VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Schools of Hope: In just one hour per week, you can make a difference in a child’s life! Schools of Hope
provides young children with tutors on a regular basis to increase reading achievement in the early
grades. No previous experience needed! Tutoring occurs during school hours. Sign up as an individual or
group today!
United Way Investment Committee: Annually, United Way allocates millions of dollars to positively impact
our community. We rely on the expertise and dedication of a diverse team of local volunteers to make
strategic investments. Volunteers are needed to attend meetings, evaluate grant applications, review
program reports and compliance documents.
United Way Day of Action: Each year in June, United Ways around the world host hundreds of events
that bring thousands of people together to volunteer for projects focused on United Way’s work around
education, income and health. This year’s event will be held on June 17 and will involve corporate
volunteers assembling literacy kits for local children.
United Way Kickoff and Day of Caring: The 2016 Kickoff will be on September 10 from 8:00 - 9:00 a.m. The
Day of Caring will commence following the Kickoff until 1:00 p.m. Register as an individual, organization
or family for this one-day opportunity to volunteer at more than 20 local nonprofits.
Company Volunteer Day: Work with United Way to build a custom volunteer day that works for your
workplace environment. Volunteer opportunities can range in group size, take place on-site or off-site and
revolve around your schedule.
When you volunteer through United Way, your gifts of time and talent are maximized and supported. We offer a breadth
of meaningful, hands-on group or individual volunteer experiences year-round that match both personal passions and
corporate community visions.

IMPACT OPPORTUNITIES
United Way Affinity Groups: United Way brings philanthropic-minded individuals together with the
Emerging Leaders and Women United® affinity groups. Members learn about our community, and
participate in special events and volunteer opportunities.
Lunch and Learn: In only an hour, United Way can provide your employees with more information on
specific issues affecting our community, such as early childhood education, financial stability and mental
health.
Community Conversations: United Way wants to hear from you and your employees. In just 90 minutes,
this facilitated roundtable discussion will provide insight from your employees on where the community is
and where it should be heading. Conversations can be held at your company’s location.
Impact Tour: Experience the power of Living United through an overview of United Way’s Community
Impact work followed by a tour of a United Way partner provider or initiative.
Donation Drives: Drives for school supplies, books, diapers, food, etc., are all convenient ways to make a
difference in the lives of children and families in need any time of year. Groups can run drives for specific
items and then meet to assemble them into kits, baskets or bags.
United Way can help your business engage employees in ways that drive brand loyalty, strengthen employee loyalty,
enhance leadership development, increase recruitment and help people live their best possible lives. Research shows
that companies with higher employee engagement experienced 37 percent lower absenteeism and 22 percent higher
