Ministry Bio-Sketch: The Reverend Zenobia W. Scott

This biographical sketch is not so much about my accomplishments or what I have done in the past, but it is about who I am now. The following are a few things about me.

I, Ethel Zenobia “Zee” White Scott, many times referred to as Rev. ”ZEE” or Momma “ZEE”, is a native of Midlothian, Virginia; the seventh of (9) children, to the late Joseph and Ethel S. White.

I am first and foremost a child of The Sovereign King, the Creator and Sustainer of the world, and am co-heir with my Brother Jesus, the resurrected Christ, in whom I live, move, and have my being.

I have been immersed in the Word of God and the Truth of the Gospel for as long as I can remember. At a very early age, I expressed a desire to commit my life to Jesus Christ and was baptized at First Baptist Church, Midlothian, Virginia.

I have a quiet, gentle personality and am quite comfortable with a low-keyed, simple life. I love fun and laughter, and have a great sense of humor. I love to give and receive hugs. I am an early riser and my level of energy and enthusiasm is high. I am honest, affectionate, unselfish, kind, creative, understanding, and a positive encourager. I am a redeemed woman of God who enjoys life; a “people person.” I endeavor to emulate the qualities of the Proverbs 31 woman, and practice the Fruits of the Spirit. A block of time is set aside daily for Bible study, meditation, and just being alone with God. I strive hard to be a blessing to someone each day. ABOVE ALL, I LOVE THE LORD!

I enjoy doing a lot of fun things with family and friends. A great deal of my time is spent planning/organizing and working with the Children’s Ministry at Quioccasin Baptist Church. I have a great love for children and enjoy interacting with them. Also, I find joy in other church and Christian related activities.

Because of my love for plants and flowers, my yard is very important to me, and I spend much time on its beautification. I find joy in going to the garden alone very early in the morning while the dew is still on the roses. As I dig in the soil, toil with the weeds, water and plant more flowers, I am having a little talk with Jesus. I hum and sing from the rising of the sun ‘til the going down of the same. Dining out is one of my favorite past-time enjoyments (I love seafood, Chipotle, ice cream!). Along with attending various cultural events, visiting museums, historic places, local outings and activities, I am in contact with the sick, bereaved, carrying and sharing the Gospel wherever I go. I love my Adult Church School Class, and am usually in attendance.

I enjoy Christian music, and I also appreciate smooth jazz, Big Band sounds, oldies, easy listening, and light classical. I love to read and am a crossword puzzle fanatic. To keep fit, I used to spend at least 30 minutes per day walking track or at the fitness center.

I have two children, nine lovely grandchildren and a precious great-grand daughter. Also, I’m a sports-loving person, and I enjoy attending games occasionally (especially football/Redskins). Traveling locally, nationally, and internationally is also a great source of joy for me. I JUST LOVE FLYING!

I am a retired public school teacher, who still loves teaching. Quite often when people ask me if I am retired, my blatant reply is NO! I AM RE-TREADED, to go on a while longer with the Gospel. (re-treaded, not re-tired). Then I chuckle and say that when the morticians prepare to close the lid on my coffin, I will sit right up and say, “Wait a minute! I have just one more thing to do!”

I affirm that all that I am and ever hope to be, I owe it all to the Eternal God, and to God be the glory for the things He has done in my life.

She says, “Though she does not speak the dialect of her ancestors, she knows the pain of their suffering.” Called out from a literal fire, she sought to understand the meaning of the call through study of the scriptures and by listening and sitting at the feet of men and women whom she trusted. Reverend Baldwin has a Master of Arts in Christian Education from Union-Presbyterian School of Christian Education, now known as Union Presbyterian Seminary. She has a Master of Divinity from Virginia Union University, The Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology. She earned her Bachelor of Liberal Studies from Mary Washington College.

REGENERATION

John 3:1-7; Romans 10:8-11

Leader: There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: Congregation: The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. (John 3:1-7) But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. All: For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. (Romans 10:8-11)
