About The WBCS Examination

West Bengal Civil Service (Executive), popularly known as W.B.C.S.( E x e ) , i s t h e c i v i l s e r v i c e o f t h e I n d i a n s t a t e o f West Bengal. For the WBCS (Exe) and other comparative posts, Public Service Commission of West Bengal arranges competitive examinations in three phases every year. These phases are Preliminary, Main and Interview. There are different groups in recruitment of such examination based on choice and merit of scored number. These are Group A,Group B (only for West Bengal Police Service ), Group C and Group D. The WBCS (Exe) officers belong to Group A .In general, As per record of the WBPSC the candidates with higher scores opt for WBCTS,WBPS and WBCS (Exe) as their first choice.Since 1988 most of the top ranker haveopted WB commercial Tax Service as their first choice. The officers are included in the state cadre of civil service officers..

Eligibility

Who can appear? A degree from a recognized UniversityAbility to read, write and speak in Bengali (not required for those c a n d i d a t e s w h o s e m o t h e r t o n g u e i s N e p a l i )

Age Limit:

Minimum age 21 years (For Group A,C,D)

Maximum age 36 years

Examination Process

First the preliminary examination is conducted for screening process.T h e m a r k s o b t a i n e d i n t h i s e x a m i n a t i o n b y t h e candidates will not be considered for final selection.

Preliminary exam is likely to be scheduled in January/February 2019.

Candidates qualified in the preliminary examination will only be eligible to apply for Main Examination.

Main examination for WBCS 2018 is likely to be scheduled in September 2019.

20 years (For Group B)

Candidates who will achieve the minimum qualifying mark as set by the Commission will be eligible for the Interview by a Board of competent & unbiased members.

The objective of the interview is to assess the mental ability of the candidate for a career in public service.

Questions asked in such interview is of general interest & is intendedto judge the mental calibre of a candidate.

WBCS is an Objective type ExaminationThe Papers Consists of 200 multiple-choice questions.Each question carries one mark.The Exam duration is 2 hours 30 minutes.

WBCS Civil Services Mains Exam Pattern

The West Bengal Civil Services Main Exam consists of 6 Compulsory papers and 1 optional Subject of 2 papers (Only for Group A & B applied candidates).

PSC West Bengal Civil Services Mains Exam consists of 8 Papers.

Each paper contains 200 questions and carries 200 marks each.

The time duration for each Paper is 3 hours.

Course Materials For The Main Test

The concise & updated study materials comprises of twelve sets in General Studies Two Optional Subjects Papers and the same will be Provided at the time of admission & in regular interval. The study materials, will be provided to every aspirant of WBCS.

Mock Test

We are conducting total 20 Mock Tests in the 8 months durationwhere 8 Mock Tests will be of Full length and All West Bengal level (Weekly 1 test with classroom discussion). Rest 12 mock tests will be sectional and only applicable for classroom/correspondence aspirants.
