Our Teachers are Superheroes!! May 2 nd through May 6 th is Staff Appreciation Week here at Kennedy! Superheroes are pretty popular, and that popularity has only grown with all the recent movies. We like to think that the staff and teachers at Kennedy are superheroes. If you look up the definition of the word “superhero”, it is defined as “a fictional character with superhuman powers”. Obviously, they are very real and aren’t able to fly or run super fast. They are superheroes for a lot of reasons though – they can take seemingly hopeless situations and turn them into amazing opportunities; they see potential where others see none; and who else can make a group of independently, opinionated children stay on task and intrigued for hours each day? The answer: only a superhero…only a teacher. Next week, Kennedy’s Super Staff will be enjoying a Brunch for superheroes on Monday, a Popcorn Bar on Tuesday, and a Super “Hero” Lunch on Thursday. Thank you to the many parents who volunteered to bring in food and drinks to help on those days. To add to the superhero fun, students may Dress like a Superhero on Wednesday (please no masks or weapons). As part of the week, superhero capes will be hung outside the classroom teacher’s doors. We are asking each student to write in the “Super” shapes below completing one of the two sentences: “My teacher is super because….” or “My teacher’s super power is…” Please make sure the teacher’s name is somewhere on it and return these to school on Monday, May 2 nd or Tuesday, May 3 rd to be attached to that teacher’s cape. If you child would like to write out notes for other teachers, you’ll be able to print it off from the Eagle Express link. Please consider doing things throughout the week to let your child’s teachers know they are appreciated. Those personal gestures mean a lot. These gestures could be anything from a note or a picture to bringing in something your teacher would enjoy. There will be a link on the Eagle Express to information about each staff member about snacks, drinks, restaurants and stores they like, and items needed in the classroom.
