    A VIDEO MONTAGE

It is silent footage of various PATIENTS having seizures. Some of the clips are older and grainier than others.Over this, we hear a womans voice:

SUSAN PROCTOR (O.S.)Over fifty million people sufferfrom some form of seizure disorder

worldwide. Though some can becontrolled with medication, mostcannot and there is no cure.

The montage ends and we pull back to reveal a white videoprojection screen above a large stage.

A huge banner above the screen reads: Meditech: 21stCentury Health.

INT. A UNIVERSITY LECTURE HALL - CONTINUOUS

SUSAN PROCTOR, (40s) stands center stage making animpressive sales pitch. Everything about her is poised, polished and to the point.

    what causes this condition.

IN THE AUDIENCE Dr. Newton sits among a large group ofMEDICAL PROFESSIONALS.

SUSAN PROCTOR (CONTD)But we do know what happens duringa seizure.

The projection screen comes alive again with a computeranimation showing how a seizure occurs in the humanbrain.

SUSAN PROCTOR (CONTD)A misfiring of neurotransmitters

which send electrical impulsesbetween the brain cells. Theresult is a kind of neurologicalstorm.

(beat)So how do we fight it? The same

way weve been doing it for over ahundred years, with drugs designedto dampen the electrical activityin the brain. The results?Occasional success, along with ahost of side effects which areoften just as debilitating as thecondition itself. At this rate, we

might as well send in the priestto perform the ancient rite.

Image switches to a painting of Jesus curing a manpossessed by demons.

Some irritated MUMBLING among the audience.

SUSAN PROCTOR (CONTD)Ladies and gentlemen, its time tostep out of the dark ages and intothe light.

    The STAGE LIGHTS come up.

To tell you about this technology,Id like to introduce one of the

men who designed it, Dr. DavidHeinlein.

The Audience APPLAUDS as Dr. Heinlein awkwardly takescenter stage. Brilliant but socially lacking, hesunaccustomed to public speaking and is quite nervous.

DR. HEINLEINThis is a one time procedure thatinvolves two parts, one chemicaland the other electrical. First, the patient is seated into adevice called theneuroaccelerator.

    ON THE PROJECTION SCREEN

A computer generated PATIENT sits into a futuristiclooking device that resembles a reclining pilots seat

with a footrest and a helmet which fits over the head.

DR. HEINLEIN (CONTD)Here, they are injected with apatented artificialneurotransmitter of my own designcalled Synthetran which delivers aperfectly balanced electricalimpulse between the brain cells.

    The Patient is injected.

DR. HEINLEIN (CONTD)Next, the nueroacceleratorstimulates the Synthetran with anelectromagnetic charge, binding itto the brain cells and replacingthe old ones.

The Patient rises from the chair and is reborn.

DR. HEINLEIN (CONTD)The result is a normally

functioning nervous system, freeof seizures forever and a wholenew life for the patient.

Susan takes the mic from him, resuming center stage.

SUSAN PROCTORNow were ready to bring thistechnology to the patients.
