From the very beginning the history of BASK company is strongly related with warm down clothing. For more than 15 years we have been producing down jackets, pants and suits for the most demanding customers. They may be alpine climbers, who can experience hurricane winds at temperatures colder than -40 during ascensions of mountains 8000 meters high. They maybe polar explorers, dog sled racers or even people having to live in the coldest regions of Siberia or the Arctic poles. In spite of the development of many new synthetic insulation fibers, down clothing still remains unbeatable by several factors: it is very lightweight, it has very high insulation characteristics, small volume for transportation and a long lifespan. When treated properly the goose down garment can be used for up to 20 years. In BASK’s collection of warm garment we use the best Russian goose down, the quality of which is confirmed by numerous certificates and complies to the most strict international standards. Good thermal isolation properties of goose down (high factor of Fill Power in particular) give the

possibility to produce very warm and very lightweight and packable garments. When making professional warm goose down clothes BASK Company uses the technology of “warm seams”, which is so very important in windy conditions. Besides down garments BASK company also produces warm clothing with synthetic insulation - Thinsulate by 3M. This unique insulation is made of microscopic fibers, one of which is 50-70 times smaller than a human hair. Similar to natural down, synthetic fibers keeps the body warmth, that’s why clothing insulated with Thinsulate is so warm and lightweight. And, comparing to goose down garments, synthetic clothing is much better in humid conditions, and is much easier to take care of. The newest fabrics and materials used by BASK company for warm clothing provide good downproofness, protection of the insulation material from wet snow and good moisture permeability to transport the perspiration from the body during high physical activity.

The concept of the Softshell clothing is to make a multi-functional garment, which can subsitute several traditional types of clothing. Many sportsmen and travellers dream of decreasing the weight, cost and volume of equipment. It is possible to achive by using special fabrics and materials. For the top-of-the-range garments from Softshell series BASK has selected Polartec® Windbloc® Softshell fab-ric, which combines windproofness and waterproofness of Windbloc® membrane, thermal isolation of fleece and abrasion resistance due to higly abrasive outer surface. The hood of special construction, waterproof zippers, additional reinforcements let these garments fully substitute storm clothing. Inner pile layer warms you up in cold weather, and intermediate membrane layer blocks water and wind. Lighter weight, freedom of motion, no blocks for moisture permeabil-ity - these are the effects of using 1 layer of clothing instead of traditional combination of storm clothing + fleece layer.

For base styles we are using Resist Softshell fabric. Light-weight and packable garments made form this fabric will protect you from drizzly rain or wet snow due to watertifht DWR finishing. Durable outer layer is abrasion-resistant, and inner fleece layer provides thermal isolation. Absence of membrane gives a very good moisture permeability, which is very important while active motion. Garments made from Re-sist Softshell are good for trekking, alpinism and ice-climb-ing, and ample cut and nice colorways make them suitable for everyday use in the city as well. A new development for the season 2006-2007 - lightweight trekking pants made of “light softshell”. Material made from microfiber polyester is also based on 2-layer structure (durable outer surface and soft pile inner surface), but at the same time - very elastic, lightweight and absorbs perspira-tion from the body, transporting them outside.

BASK thermal underwear – the important part of your wardrobe. When choosing clothes and equipment for camping-trips, expeditions or extreme sports it is very important to think of thermal underwear. This underwear should provide freedom of movement, not irritate the skin, not absorb body odour, and, most of all - keep the warmth in and transport exessive moisture from the body during active activities. BASK thermal underwear complies with all these requirements. For the cold season we offer a collection of warm underwear made of Polartec PowerStretch fabric. This material is very elastic due to it’s Lycra fiber content. Thus, it tightly fits the body, keeping the warmth in and providing moisture permeability when sweating. The outer surface

of the fabric is made of highly durable Nylon fibers, which prevents pilling. The material is very good to the feel; it’s hypoallergenic, does not absorb odour, is antistatic and does not irritate the skin. For the spring-summer season we have developed a collection of thermal underwear from Polartec’s PowerDry fabric. This thin elastic material has an antibacterial finishing. The inner surface of fabric absorbs the body perspiration, and the porous outer surface transports the moisture outside. When making thermal underwear BASK company uses special flat seam technology and is cut anatomicaly, so the underwear does not limit freedom of movement and feels superbly comfortable, even during the most extreme physical activity.

Here are simple recommendations which actually are decoding the badges on the label of a product, with some comments:• The dry-cleaner is forbidden! • A careful washing mode (Manual wash or machine wash)• Non aggressive washing liquids (no bleach, etc.). use softeners for a fabric and other additives, for example antistatics.

• Do not use any bleaches and chemical solvents!!!

HOW TO WASH DERMIZAX® GARMENTS

There is a label with symbols on textile products. These are recommendations on products care. These symbols decoding is resulted below. Observance of the given recommendations will help a product to serve longer.

Try to store down garments unfolded - it will increase life time of a product. Do not store down garments damp compressed even for a days. The down is an organic substance, in such conditions it will decay. Try to wash down garments after each season since the down absorbs fatty allocation of a body and cease to “fluff up”. It is often noticeable on a jacket collar and a hood of a sleeping bag.It is better to hand over the dirty garments to a special dry-cleaner. But it is possible to wash carefully the down garment in a washing machine or manually. Buy special liquid soap Nikwax Down Wash® for down products and dissolve it in

warm water. The temperature of the water should not be above 40 C. If you wash the garment in the machine do not forget to choose part load mode at small loading. Then rinse several times and wring out well. Dry up a product as soon as possible. For this purpose use fan, oil or a central heating radiator. We do not recommend to dry the down garment in a washing machine because it can spoil a fabric. Evenly distribute down lumps and shake up well a product after drying. The correct treatment of BASK down garments will prolong term of their service and will provide you reliable warmth and comfort.

DOWN

Natural goose down is a recognized leader among different insulations. It combines low weight, good heat-insulation characteristics, small transporting volume and long durabili-ty. The quality of down is judged by Fill Power (F.P.) parameter. It shows the volume in sq. inches, which one down oz (28,35 g) can

restore to after compressing. The best F.P. parameters reach 850 units. BASK Company uses only ecologically clean selected goose down. The geese whose down is used are bred in extreme Siberian weather conditions, that’s why the down has more quality, is bigger and more elastic. BASK Company uses only goose down with F.P. 650-850 units. Each down consign-ment has a veterinary certificate confirming the absence of bacteria and background radioactivity. Finally the down is processed with DOWN PROOF NIKWAX® which improves its elasticity and water-resistant qualities. Goose down if treated properly will last for 20 years.The goose down used by BASK is manufactured in Russia and processed by Kariguz enterprise (reg. № 1016) applying the technology of down-and-feather production according to the standards of EN 12935, PAS 1008 European Down and Feather Association (EDFA).

Each BASK product is supplied with detailed information about the properties of materials (including insulation). So, Downafresh® logo on the label of down products means that the down is free of dirt, dried out at 100 °C, conformed to EN12935 standard and considered to be a pure raw material. NOMITE® logo confirms the safety of the down for home dust allergic people. Only companies , observing the technology of down-and-feather production according to PAS 1008 European Standard, have the right of users for the Nomite® trade mark.Down procession with Nikwax® almost completely restores the natural down features: flexibility, softness, elasticity. Nikwax does not contain chlorine-containing agents, all the production is in full conformity with the international demands of World Health Organization.

PRIMALOFT®

This modern series of insulations is com-posed of polyester fibres. Very soft and warm, Primaloft® as against many other insulations, keeps warm even in humid con-

ditions and dries quickly. Due to the special fibre structure

Primaloft® provides high insulating qualities together with low weight, blocks the wind and wicks moisture from the body. Primaloft® One is specially developed for use in gloves when the pressure resistance and the capability for keeping in the warmth, in humid conditions, are most important.

THERMOLITE®

The unique insulation developed and pat-ented by American company INVISTA (branch of corporation DuPont).

THERMOLITE® Extreme Thermolite® Extreme is the warmest of DuPont’s insulations. It is used in the pro-duction of clothing and sleeping-bags.

DuPont patented tri-blend fibre technology gives Thermolite® Extreme warmth, durability and loft. Each of the three com-ponents of the blend corresponds with each of these prop-erties. The unique design of Thermolite® Extreme provides lightweight warmth for prolonged periods of time for both high and low activity sports in extreme conditions.Thermolite® Extreme is famous with its unsurpassed warmth per weight ratio and excellent resilience. Thermolite® Extreme can be machine washed and dried and is non allergenic.

THERMOLITE® Extra

Thermolite® Extra is the next in warmth to Thermolite® Extreme. It consists of hollow-core fibres that provide three-dimensional spring-like loft. This explains its low weight

together with superior warmth and resiliency.Used as an insulator for sleeping bags, Thermolite® Extra allows machine washing and drying and is non allergenic. It retains its volume during a long life.

Polarguard®

A firm, warm insulation material by INVISTA company which has recently appeared on the world market, but due to it’s combina-tion of such properties as optimum weight,

volume and thermal isolation, won to itself a worthy place among other insulations in it’s range.

Polarguard® "Delta"The newest development in Polarguard® line. Represents medium hollow fibres from polyester which eliminate the deffect of

early Polarguard® insulation materials - a big transport vol-ume. A soft, wearproof heater with a fine ratio of weight and thermal protection.

Thinsulate™ LiteLoftIs manufactured by American company 3M and is one of the most perfect synthetic insu-

lations known for today. The almost imperceptible weight of the material combines with its good insulation characteristics.Soft to the touch, compression stable, does not absorb mois-ture and easily washes (the shrinkage is maximum 10 % after 20 washings. Garments made from Thinsulate ™ should not be kept compressed under high temperature. Ironing is not recommended.

Insufil®

A new insulation material having such prop-erties as thermal protection, minimal vol-ume, softness, light weight. Does not absorb

moisture and quickly restores the volume after compression, wearproof. Sleeping bags with such insulation are ease to wash, quickly restored.

THERMOFIL

Thermofil is a new synthetic insulation, which provides warmth. It consists of the original section fibres. It is light, warm, com-pression stable and durable. BASK were the first who used Thermofil in the Russian out-

door industry, when they started to use it for insulating sleep-ing bags. While meeting all modern requirements, Thermofil is far less expensive than most up-to-date insulations.

PERTEX®Pertex® is a super light weight fabric devel-oped by the English company Perseverance Mills. This company has been developing

and producing textiles for more then a hundred years.Pertex® fabrics provide the unique combination of qualities - perfectly windproof, down proof, damp transmitting. All these qualities are attained due to the close weaving and the special finishing of the fabric The main fibre they use in the fabric production is Nylon 66. These highly durable fabrics range from the 46 gr/m (Pertex® Microlight) up to the 80 gr/m (Pertex® 6) These fabrics are used worldwide for making high quality down jackets and sleeping bags. According to the agreement with Perseverance Mills, BASK has a unique license for using Pertex® fabrics in Russia.

PERTEX® CLASSICThe Classic set includes the wide spectrum of different fabrics whose advantages are proven by time. Since its first appearance

more then 15 years ago until today Pertex® Classic is the basis of Pertex® technologies.Light, soft and pleasant to touch Pertex® fabrics go well together with any insulation and they are used in the produc-tion of many different types of outdoor equipment.

PERTEX® ENDURANCEThe fabrics of this set were developed with the main goal – the guarantee of the maxi-mum waterproofness achieveable. The super thin micropore covering of Pertex®

Endurance provides long life, good waterproofness and absolute windproofness without affecting the breathabilty and with insignificant increase to the fabric weight.

PERTEX® MICROLIGHTThis set of the most light and soft Pertex® materials is characterized by the minimal weight without losing its durability. Pertex®

Microlight contains the down well and provides a good bar-rier to wind and water. The close weaving allows little heat waste and keeps the good insulation properties for clothing and sleeping bag production. The material softness allows good recovery of the insulation after compression.

RIPSTOP NYLON TACTEL®Durable, but lightweight fabric, that com-bines waterproof and breathable properties. BASK Company uses Ripstop Nylon Tactel® for manufacturing light waterproof sports clothing, down wear and sleeping bags.

Superfine Tactel® threads (made by DuPont) provide maxi-

mum durability / weight ratio, thanks to good weaving tech-nology.

NYLON TACTEL®This fabric is very lightweight, soft and it feels good against the skin. It’s made of Tactel® threads, which are used for manufacturing superfine durable fabrics. Tactel® fibres with high-density braiding increase durability and flexibility of the fabric, so it is possible to use Nylon Tactel® for manufactur-ing sports clothing. BASK Company uses high-temperature finished Nylon Tactel® for windproof clothing and as a lining in down wear and sleeping bags.

DERMIZAX®

A modern membrane fabric developed by the Japanese company Toray, is widely used by leading world manufacturers of clothes of

extreme purpose. Absolutely windproof, waterproof ( 20000 mm water lift), vapor penetration ( 8000 g/ m2/24h using b-1 method); Dermizax® will maintain its exceptional character-istics by 80% after 20 washes.BASK is today’s unique company, that produces high-tech equipment made of Dermizax® materials. This material, which BASK chose for storm clothing (Dermizax® 3L), has a 3-layer structure. The outer surface with waterproof finishing, protects an intermediate mem-brane from external damage. The inner layer wicks out the moisture and preserves the membrane from damage.

DERMIZAX–MP®

Water-proof, breathable fabric on the hydro-phobic micropore membranes basis from polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). Thin porous

membrane film at the small weight reliably provides water resistance and effectively allocates evaporations. POLARTEC® WINDBLOC®

Polartec® Windbloc® fabrics combine heat-insulating and breathable fleece properties with wind and waterproof properties of the

outer layer. The fabric’s outer layer is imbued with the water-repellent composition; the inner layer averts moisture abun-dance. The glutinous membrane located between two fleece layers blocks a wind. By tests results, this fabric provides 100% protection against a wind at its speed of 50 km/hr. Polartec® Windbloc® equipment is intended for situations when a wind, cold and inclement weather demand high-per-formance outer protection.

POLARTEC® WINDBLOC ACT®

The fabric possessing all Polartec® Windbloc® advantages, but easier and less volumetric. Patent-pending Air Control

Technology (ACT) enables the fabric to block 98 % of the wind and to allocate moisture from a body in an environment in 3 times above, than at other kinds of wind-shelter fleece. The two-layer structure of a fabric allows to use it in the outer clothing manufacturing which does not demand an additional lining.

POLARTEC® WIND PRO®Owing to a two-layer structure and a dense interlacing of strings, this fabric is character-ized by high heat-insulating properties and blocks a wind. Polartec® Wind Pro® fabrics

are 4 times more wind-resistant than conventional fleece and represent a “breathing” properties, greatest possible for the given group of materials. The soft internal layer from polyes-ter fibres allocates outside superfluous moisture of a body. POLARTEC® THERMAL PRO®

Warm two-layer material with additional water-repellent impregnation. The external surface is firm to abrasion, protects from a

wind and a fine rain, and dries up quickly. The soft fleecy internal layer provides maximal thermal protection; moisture pairs are free allocated outside from a body. Unlike many fleecy fabrics, Polartec® Thermal Pro® keeps the thermal

protection properties and does not roll down after repeated washings.

POLARTEC® 200Warm, soft and easy, Polartec® 200 pos-sesses excellent thermal protection proper-ties. Unlike natural fabrics, it does not accu-mulate, and allocates superfluous moisture

from a body, providing comfort. On thermal properties Polartec® 200 surpasses twice the sheep wool and more than three times surpasses a cotton. Polartec® 200 products can be used separately as well as a warming layer in a com-bination to wind-shelter clothes.

POLARTEC® POWER STRETCH®

Possessing “breathing” properties, Polartec® Power Stretch® is very soft and elastic, allocates outside a superfluous

moisture at contact to a skin, leaving body dry. The unique fibre consists of two layers: a strong external surface and a soft internal layer with velour’s pile. Water elimination prop-erties of Polartec® Power Stretch® are 25 % above, than other materials applied in the bottom layer of clothes. Products from this fabric provide maximal freedom of move-ments, and good for playing sports both in a hall and on open air.

POLARTEC® POWER DRY®

Elastic and thin, pleasant for a skin material of two-layer structure perfectly suits for a thermal underwear. Owing to use of two types of strings, each side of fabric

Polartec® Power Dry® has a various surface. The internal layer, velvety and gentle, provides the fabric fine water-repel-lent properties, which are 30 % above than at other similar materials. Zippers, plastic buckles, snaps and Velcro fasteners are the major functional elements for outdoor clothing and equip-ment for extreme conditions. Sometimes they are respon-sible not only for comfort but also for safety of the user.

ZippersBASK uses durable and reliable zips pro-duced by YKK (Japan) that are famous for their excellent quality.

Plastic bucklesIn BASK clothing and equipment we use high-quality and multi-tested plastic DURAFLEX buckles produced by National Molding of Europe company. The materials

of DURAFLEX buckles (as in Acetal Dupont`s Delrin or Nylon Dupont versions), make them resistant to salt water, cold and UV radiation.

SnapsBASK clothing is fitted with press fasteners produced by STOCKO company (Germany). They are made of a special non-corrosive alloy and are very durable and reliable.

DOWN FILLINGTo fill our products with down we use high-tech machines that can fill packets of down between a capacity of 5 to300 grams, to a ±1 gr accuracy !

FLAT SEAMS*These are used by BASK with Polartec fabrics, to avoid bulky seams, which can rub against the body. Flat seams are produced with special 4-needle and 9-threaded sewing-machines. The edges of the fabrics are cut and overlapped by 2-mm and additionally over sewn with a knitted pattern to ensure both durability and thermal properties. • Unfortunately, cheap imitations of flat seams are all to common now. Beware of fakes!

TAPED SEAMSSpecial technology applied to membrane wear and tents. In this process a water-proof tape is applied over the seams. It is essential for tents or performance outer-wear where maximum water-protection is required. We use Pfaff taping machines with a wide range of adjustment for dif-ferent types of fabrics. Our taped-seam products will withstand any deluge.

THERMAL WELDINGThe modern method of cutting and joining with “thermal welding” substi-tutes for ordinary seams. It is used with hi-tech wear made of membrane fabrics. Provides reliable weather and impact protection for the most vulnerable areas of weatherproof clothing.“Thermal welding” technology, rejects traditional sewing methods and dramati-cally increases the products reliability and durability and also decreases the overall weight. BASK uses the seamless storm frontal flap technology (on the ba-sis of Thermal Welding technology, USA patent US 6675390B1) in its production of 3-ply weatherproof shells..

OVER STITCHINGA method of reinforcing garments where stress points are stitched with overlock-ing seams of between 1-5 mm in length. It increases the life duration and reliability of the clothing. In some extreme models we use up to 50 over stitches.

HOOD FLAPSpecial feature of extreme outerwear. A hood flap is a windproof flap sewn around the hood to protect from the wind. On pulling the hood drawstring it envelopes the face perimeter to keep the warm air in.

WINDPROOF (POWDER) SKIRTSpecial feature of extreme outerwear. An elastic windproof skirt that is attached to the lining of some jackets. It can be fastened (with snaps or Velcro) around the waist protecting you from wind and snow and aiding heat retention.

SNOW GAITERSSplit or one-piece sleeves located at the ankles to keep legs free of snow. They can be tightened around the legs and fastened to boots. Usually they are integrated inside shell pants.

TWO-WAY ZIPPERA zipper with two sliders. With it you can open a jacket from the bottom or from the top providing additional venting options and easy access to inner layers or gear.

DOUBLE-SLIDER ZIPPERA zipper with a special double slider that allows opening from either inner and or outer sides. Very useful for sleeping bags or mid-layer jackets. In shells it is usually combined with a two-way zipper that permits access for a climbing rope.

WATERPROOF ZIPPERSpecial type of zipper used in extreme outerwear. To provide additional protec-tion from the elements the top of the waterproof zip in the BASK jackets is covered with a storm flap (zip garage).

LAMINATED PEAKDue to the additional inner laminated layer which increases the inflexibility, the peak holds the shape.

LAMINATED POCKETS ENTRANCESThe technology of the entrance zipper laminating is used to achieve addi-tional containment. It replaces the usual seams. In combination with the water-proof zippers it provides for absolute watertightness.

LASER-CUT POCKETS ENTRANCESLaser cut technology being used dur-ing the pockets entrances processing, provides the additional containment and allows to minimize the number of seams.

YACHTING ZIPPERIn yachting equipment we prefer YKK-zippers with special sliders. They are resistant to salt water and will not rust.

REFLECTIVE TAPESWe use reflective 3M tapes for edging of some our garments ensuring road safety at dusk and poor light conditions.For yachting equipment we use a salt-water-resistant 3M Solas tape. ELASTIC VELCRO CUFFSThese are elastic cuffs that wrap around wrists and are fastened with Velcro-ad-justable flaps. Such construction permits the hand to be pulled through without unfastening the flap.

EMBROIDERYThe individual embroidery work pro-duced by BASK is manufactured by Bask using very high quality ZSK (Germany) 12-head embroidery machines and the best sewing threads from Gutermann, Ackermann and Gunold (Germany). Our embroidery meets the highest world quality demands.
