Draft Plan - Sub Theme C - Nutrition and Food Security
Preambulatory Clauses:
1. Acknowledging the fact, although unwanted, of the existence of fortuitous events
such as typhoons, cyclones, tsunami, landslide, flood, economic depression, war
and other circumstances same as those already mentioned,
2. Alarmed by the continuous increase of prices of food commodities resulting to thelack or insufficiency of resources to purchase food for consumption,
3. Emphasiing the unavailability of infrastructure which, if provided, would lead to
the smooth transfer of food products from the producers to the consumers,
!. "oting, with deep concern, the absence of accessibility and availability of food,
both in rural and urban places,
#. $tressing the outdated agricultural and livelihood technology and facilities,
affecting foremost, the farmers and fishermen of the said industry,
%. Alarmed by the gradual increase of level of hunger due to food shortage,
&. 'rieved by the sudden increase of mortality rate caused by different health risks
attained from overconsumption,
(. )indful that a sustainable world can be made possible by its healthy citiens by
being aware of the nutrient information thus preventing overconsumption,
*. +ealiing that continuous overproduction can lead to excessive human
consumption of goods,
1. +ecogniing the large amount of food wastage and spoilage due to excessive food
production,
11. -aking note of the uneven distribution of food with concern to selfindulgence
which results to the deprivation of food to other people,
12. Alarmed at how the public is not fully aware of the nutritional value of the food
they consume,

13. Alarmed by the deceiving business techni/ues companies are using to sell their
products,
1!. Aware of the lack of nutrition of mothers and their children,

1%. 'uided by the basic rights of consumers to basic needs, healthy living and
consumer education,
1&. nowing that having a dietary meal that completes all the needed nutrients is vital
to healthy living,

food,
1*. +ecogniing that the consumption of food is greater than the production of food.
Operative Clauses:
1. Adopts an individualistic approach of preparation towards a catastrophe make
sure that each individual is aware of important precautionary measures in dealing
with fortuitous events
2. 0alls upon government leaders to work with private sectors to craft new policiesand measures concerning food security and nutrition in order to control the prices
of commodities and promote stability
3. Endorses to the proper authorities the creation, development, maintenance and
preservation of suitable infrastructure to achieve food security such as roads,
bridges, cold storage plants, water supply facilities, markets and the like
!. Endorses the maximiation of the agricultural potentials of the member countries
of the 4nited "ations by aggressively promoting and hosting agricultural and
livelihood researches, trainings and exchange programs
#. $trongly recommends to the government and other agencies to provide subsidy
and assistance to farmers and fishermen in order encourage them and ensure
stable production

agricultural development

1&. +ecommends the use of food stubs in government supported public cafeterias to guarantee that people receive a meal complete in nutrients

health

2. +ecommends opening more programs to the public to make them aware of the
importance of eating healthy

marginalied in society may be able to receive a healthy meal each day

correctly provide information on their product
