The Doctrine of HumanityArnold G. FruchtenbaumWeek 7This new course for the Program of Messianic Jewish Studies investigates from a Messianic Jewishperspective God’s plan for humanity: from creation to the fall into sin, to redemption, to the final stateof mankind in glorification. With this study you will come to a better understanding of your place andpurpose in this present time of history.

The Jewish People in the Book of RomansMottel BalestonWeek 7The Book of Romans is an overview of New Testament biblical doctrine. Yet so many ignore a core teaching that keeps appearing in the book: the continuing place of the Jewish people in the plan of God. Embracing this truth opens up greater Bible understanding.

The Doctrine of SinArnold G. FruchtenbaumWeek 8In this new course for the Program of Messianic Jewish Studies, you will discover the Messianic Jewish understanding of the origin of evil and of sin and well as investigate the theological controversy known as “original sin.” You will learn to distinguish Biblically the sin nature from personal sin and how practically to deal with both. This course will give special attention to the real meaning of “the unpardonable sin.”

Post Mosaic Jewish Holy DaysMottel BalestonWeek 8Christians are growing in their appreciation of the Holy Days given by God. In addition to those in Leviticus 23, there are others that figure prominently in Biblical and Jewish history: Hanukkah, Purim, Tisha B'Av and others. We will explore these Holy Days in the context of New Testament Grace, and demonstrate the items used in their celebration.

Over the years, Ariel’s School of Messianic Jewish Studies at the Shoshanah campus has been growing. We now offer eight weeks of courses and teaching on various important Bible topics all from a Messianic Jewish perspective. The curriculum is divided into 4 sections: the first is a two week set of courses followed by a three week set of courses, then a one week set which is a course on the Life of Messiah. The last two weeks features an additional set of courses. We encourage you to attend a full set of courses if at all possible, but you may attend any number of weeks from the opening to the ending. The special Labor Day Weekend program also provides a great ready-made oppor-tunity to grow spiritually while getting away with the family for a relaxed holiday weekend.

HOW THE PROGRAM WORKSEach week, classes begin on Monday morning and end on Friday evening. During the first set (Weeks 1 and 2), there will be four one-hour class sessions during the mornings and in the evenings. In the second and third sets (Weeks 3 through 6) there will be five classes in the mornings and evenings. The fourth set (Weeks 7 and 8) is like the first with four classes. Each class session is one hour in length and begins with a brief time of worship. However, in the second set (Weeks 3-5) there is a Survey of the Life of Messiah course that is required for those who are attending the program for the first time. Those classes run for 75 minutes each day. Week 6 contains only one course, which is a detailed study of the Life of Messiah, with 5 classes each day. The schedule is designed to maximize the teaching time during the day, yet provide ample time

for fun, fellowship, and relaxation. Thus, each afternoon is open time to enjoy fellowship, hiking, recreation at Trout Pond, other local attractions, or to take time with the Lord in personal study and prayer.

Each week comes to a fitting climax in a special Shabbat dinner followed by the teaching service. Saturday is a free day for those continuing in their studies the following week, or departure day for those not continuing. On Sunday mornings, there is a time to gather for worship led by Ariel staff members and students. If you play a musical instrument, please bring it and share your talent on Wednesday evening “fun and talent” night or by assisting those who lead the worship times. Also, impromptu music always makes the Saturday and Sunday evening lakeside cookouts to be very special occasions indeed.

CHILDREN AND YOUTH PROGRAMWhile the adults are attending the teaching sessions, the children and youth are also learning and being discipled by carefully selected committed staff using age appropri-ate settings and activities. Many of the young people have indicated that this time at Shoshanah is a highlight of their year. Please note that during non-teaching times, parents must take responsibility for their children.

OT SurveyArnold G. Fruchtenbaum Week 1This course will provide an overview of the whole Hebrew Bible showing how the poetical and prophetic books fit within the historical segments of the Old Testament. It will trace God’s special program for the Jewish people both past and future.

EphesiansRoger LiebiWeek 1Explore this book in its Messianic Jewish context, finding in it the uniqueness of Israel, the roleof Gentile believers, and the contrast between Jews and Gentiles. Learn in what way all believersbecome partakers of Jewish spiritual blessings in the Body of the Messiah.

NT SurveyArnold G. FruchtenbaumWeek 2In addition to the Gospels, this course will provide an overview of the whole New Covenant writings, placing the epistles into their historical and chronological settings in the Book of Acts. The course also highlights differences in the epistles written to the Body as a whole and those epistles written specifically for Messianic Jews.

1 JohnRoger LiebiWeek 2This course gives in-depth exploration of the apostle John’s Jewish mind-set as he encourages his readers to continue in fellowship with the Son, navigating these vulnerable believers away from the doctrinal errors that were beginning to emerge in their congregations.

Zionism and the History of IsraelMottel BalestonWeeks 3-4One of the four time-tested courses taught in the Program of Messianic Jewish Studies, this study demonstrates how God in faithfulness to His Word has preserved the Jewish people, such that out of the ashes of the Holocaust, the state of Israel came into being within three years following the fall of Nazi Germany. This course will also explore how the modern state of Israel is a fulfillment of Biblical prophecies.

Bible Study Methods Mottel BalestonWeeks 3-4All believers understand much of the Bible in its literal normative sense. But when the Bible speaks of Israel and speaks of prophetic events, many Bible believers resort to allegorical or spiritualizing methods of interpretation, leaving Israel out of the picture except for the curses. This course will show how principles of biblical interpretation must be applied consistently to all parts of the Bible thus promoting a special role for Israel.

Book of JeremiahArnold G. FruchtenbaumWeeks 3-5This course examines the entire book, parts in survey or summary and parts in verse-by-verse detail. Special focus is placed on the Messianic Prophecies within this book, showing how this book militates against different forms of Replacement Theology with its implications of diminishing support for Israel.

Eschatology: Doctrine of the Last DaysArnold G. FruchtenbaumWeeks 3-5This course will cover all facets of the prophetic word of God covering topics such as the Rapture, Israel, the Tribulation, the Second Coming, the Messianic kingdom, the Eternal Order, among other prophetic issues. The course will also examine the non-literal approach to interpretation of Scripture regarding Israel and the Jewish people that is being used in the Replacement Theology movement.

Highlights of the Life of MessiahArnold G. FruchtenbaumWeek 3-5This summary course on the Life of Messiah is required for all those attending the 3 week program for the first time. Based on the Ariel’s Harmony of the Gospels textbook, this class walks you chronologically through the four Gospels. It focuses on the events in the life of Messiah from a Jewish perspective, shedding light on the Jewish theology and customs that surround our Messiah.

GalatiansRichard Hill Week 5The Book of Galatians has become a battleground within the Messianic movement and in the larger church as well. The confusion over Law versus Grace and the place of both Jewish and Gentile believers in the Church are central to the conflict that this book addresses. This course will explore these core issues in Galatians, finding a message of Messianic freedom within it.

Spiritual LifeJohn KantorWeek 5An important study to help in mastering principles of the spiritual life and spiritual warfare. The course examines the roles of the Holy Spirit, the new nature, as well as the world, the flesh and the devil in the believer’s life.

The Life of MessiahArnold G. FruchtenbaumWeek 6This is an intensive, one-week course on the Life of Messiah from a Messianic Jewish Perspective. This chronological study of all four gospels is based on the Ariel’s Harmony of the Gospels textbook. This course will give you a deeper understanding of the words and deeds of the Messiah by looking at the context of the Jewish theology, customs, and perspectives in which he ministered.
