“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” - John 1:5 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace.
In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” - John 16:33
Our world throws a lot of challenges and experiences at us — especially our young men — but with the support of one another and the strength of our faith through Jesus Christ, we can “overcome.” All guys of the Presbytery of Coastal Carolina are invited to gather together to learn some special skills, fellowship, and spend some time with God. About the Location: Reservoir International Train-ing Facility (502 Parks McMillan Drive; Raeford, NC 28376) This 70 acre facility is located at the western edge of Fort Bragg, ap-proximately 8 miles east of Camp Mackall and can host up to division-sized training events for military units and other clients. The facility accurately recreates the village environment of various nations - including Afghanistan - and provides a dynamic setting and versatile terrain for training of all types. What time does everything start? The event begins with registration Saturday from 1:00-2:00pm. We will conclude on Sunday morning around 10:30am.
How much does the event cost? The event is FREE. There will be an optional, custom “Overcome” hat available to purchase for $10/each (orders due August 7). What type of “training” is going to be included? We are still coordinating with var ious youth leaders from our Presbytery (and the staff at Reservoir International), but we intend to include team building activities, major game of capture the flag, outdoor/survivalist skills, possibly a bonfire, and other practical skills for use in possible challenging situations at school or in other public places. We will end the event refocusing on our faith and how we can use it to overcome the challenges in our lives. Lodging: There is an indoor Tactical Operations Center that your group may choose to stay in, along with various other buildings throughout the “village.” This space is LIMITED. Note: Indoor facilities have concrete floors and do not have air conditioning. Your group may ALSO bring your own tents to use — and this is rec-ommended, if possible. Bathroom Facilities Provided Youth to Adult Ratio: We ask that you have 1 adult for every 6 youth participants. Chaperones must be provided to match the gender of youth participants. If that is a hardship for your church, please let me know and I will see if I can arrange another adult advisor to share responsibilities for your group.
What Permission Forms are Required?

DIETARY NEEDS: Be sure to let us know if any of your youth have food allergies or special requests (vegetarian). This event will include dinner on Saturday evening and breakfast on Sunday morning.
Packing List – Don’t forget your Required Forms! Bible Sleeping Bag /Blanket Pillow Flashlight Tent and/ or Cot /Sleeping Pallet - Depending on your group’s lodging choice Change of Clothing (dress for the weather) Sturdy, Closed-toe shoes* *We’re going to be doing all SORTS of things! Refillable Water Bottle
*About Cell Phones: The use of isolating technology often prevents us from being fully engaged in activities. Therefore, we request that youth and adults alike use cell phones in a way that helps build community. Understanding that phones are used for alarms and cameras, they are to be put away during group activities, devotions, worship, and Fall Gathering workshops. If a young person has a hard time keeping their phone away during these times, leaders are encouraged to give the phone a “time-out” to give our youth time to enjoy this event. – Guardians: Be sure to have your youth leader’s cell phone number in case of an emergency back home.
