Facebook Group InstructionsFor the Facebook Group “AAMA Leaders”
Overview
This document offers a guide to the members of the AAMA Facebook Group “AAMA Leaders.” Use Word’s Navigation Pane (under View) to jump to the section you wish to access.
How do I join the AAMA Leaders Facebook Group?
Membership to the AAMA Leaders Facebook Group is by invitation only. The following describes how to join the Facebook Group with the understanding that you are a current AAMA leader.
Step 1: Getting on the invitation listThe AAMA sends out a sign-up sheet for the AAMA Leaders Facebook Group via an open-ended questionnaire sent to the email address provided to the AAMA. Check your email and answer the questionnaire, which will request the following information:
Your name as it appears in the AAMA database The email address associated with your Facebook account Your name as it appears on Facebook

Step 2: Accepting the inviteOnce the AAMA has collected the necessary information, AAMA staff (i.e., AAMA Leaders Facebook Group administrators) will send an invite to the email address associated with your Facebook account (Figure 2). The sender will be either of the two AAMA staff accounts.

1. Open the email and click “Join Group” (Figure 3).

2. You’ll be led to Facebook (sign in to Facebook if you haven’t already). Click “Join Group” at the top of the page (Figure 4).

You’re in! Welcome to the AAMA Leaders Facebook Group!
How do I invite others to the AAMA Leaders Facebook Group?
Because this is a secret group, you will not be able invite others to join.
You may, however, encourage current leaders to contact AAMA Marketing and Communications staff ([email protected]) directly with a request for an invitation. Include the following information:
Name as it appears in the AAMA database AAMA member ID Leadership title and position Email address associated with Facebook account Name as it appears on Facebook
Once a staff member has verified that the person is eligible to join, they will invite that leader to the AAMA Leaders Facebook Group. That person should then follow “Step 2: Accepting the invite” forward.
Navigation tips
Accessing the group1. Go to the AAMA Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/aamaorg/ 2. Click “Groups” on the left-side panel (Figure 5).

3. Click “AAMA Leaders” under “Groups by This Page” (Figure 6).

Note: The landing page is the Discussion section of the group.
Accessing the various sectionsThe AAMA Leaders Facebook Group has several sections that can all be accessed on the left-side panel (Figure 7).

Group section details
AboutReview the purpose of this group and see an overview of members, staff administrators (admins), and top recent posts.
DiscussionSee all posts.
AnnouncementsSee all posts made by staff admins.
MembersView a list of all members, broken into categories of you, staff admins, members with things in common, members living in your area, and new to the group.
EventsAccess events shared or created by staff admins and members.
VideosView photos shared by staff admins and members.
PhotosView photos shared by staff admins and members.
FilesAccess documents shared or created by staff admins and members.
UnitsView posts organized into units, so group resources are easier to find and people can learn new things.
