Mental Health Services Data Set Version 4.0 - Consultation
Overview
Mental Health Services Data SetThe Mental Health Services Data Set (MHSDS) contains record-level data about the care of children, young people and adults who are in contact with mental health, learning disabilities or autism spectrum disorder services.
More information about the MHSDS can be found on the developer's website
http://content.digital.nhs.uk/mhsds; the developer is the Data Set Development Service within NHS Digital.
Data Coordination BoardThe Data Coordination Board (DCB) has received a request for changes to an information standard, SCCI0011 Mental Health Services Data Set (MHSDS). As part of the development and assurance process, this consultation seeks feedback on the proposed changes.
Your feedback will be reported back to the DCB which we anticipate will consider the request for change at its meeting in August 2018.
Version 4.0 of the MHSDSThe changes included in this release relate to new government policy initiatives; resolution of issues within the current data collection; and inclusion of other key stakeholder requirements. In summary, the changes in v4.0 are as follows:
• Changes to the data set to enable enhanced reporting with respect to Early Intervention in Psychosis care pathways including change of scope to include family members and carers.
• Enhanced data collection in support of CYP mental health
• Changes to support reporting with respect to patients in contact with mental health services who are also part of the youth justice system.
• Changes in support of the proposed Mental Health Units (Use of Force Bill) 2017 – 19
• Collection of medication data
• Operationalisation of the Overseas Visitor Charging Status fundamental standard (OVCC) DCB3017
• Change of scope to facilitate flow of data relating to non-English organisations where it relates to services commissioned by English CCGs.
• Minor maintenance changes to respond to issues raised by the NHS Data Model and Dictionary
Full details of the changes can be found in the draft Change Specification which should be read alongside the draft Data Set Specification and draft Data Model. Links to these documents can be found below.
