deterring crime, promoting economic growth, and enhancing quality of life.

BJA MissionTo provide leadership and services in grant administration and criminal justice policy development to support local,
state, and tribal justice strategies to achieve safer communities.
BJA's GoalsTo (1) reduce and prevent crime, violence, and drug abuse
and (2) improve the functioning of the criminal justice system. To achieve these goals, BJA programs emphasize
enhanced coordination and cooperation of federal, tribal, state, and local efforts.

Provides national leadership, coordination, and resources to prevent and respond to juvenile delinquency and
victimization. OJJDP supports states and communities in their efforts to develop and implement effective and coordinated prevention and intervention programs and to improve the juvenile justice system so that it protects public safety, holds offenders accountable, and provides
treatment and rehabilitative services tailored to the needs of juveniles and their families.
