- Verify that Java 1.5 or higher is installed
- Install java 1.6, if necessary
- click run
- click Install
- Uncheck “Yes, I want Bin Toolbar for Internet Explorer”
- wait a while
- click Close
- Change PATH environment variable to include C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin;
- click Advanced tab and then the Environment Variable button
- highlight PATH in the System variables pane and click the Edit button
- overwrite any older version of Java that may be present and click Ok
- then click Ok again
- then click Ok once more
- Verify that Java 1.6 is installed
- Install Oracle Warehouse Builder client 11gR2
- extract/browse to Desktop and then click Extract
- wait a while
- click Done
- close this window (click X)
- open the extracted folder
- run the installer for OWB 11gR2
- wait
- bring the Oracle Universal install window into focus by clicking on the icon in the toolbar at the bottom (it may be behind the extracted folder)
- click Next
- uncheck “I wish to receive security updates via My Oracle Support”
- Click ‘Yes’
- review what it to be installed, and click Install
- wait a while
- click Exit
- click Yes
- set ORACLE_HOME to where OWB 11gR2 was installed
- click Advanced tab and then the Environment Variable button
- highlight ORACLE_HOME in the System variables pane and click the Edit button
- set ORACLE_HOME to where OWB 11gR2 was installedIMPORTANT: remember the old value for later (there is no value in this example)
- then click Ok again
- then click Ok once more
- install Oracle patch 9802120
- extract/browse to Desktop and then click Extract
- Click Done
- close this window (click X)
- open a Command Window + change folders to where Oracle patch 9802120 was extracted to C:\Documents and Settings\ZT12\Desktop\9802120\9802120 + run opatch.bat from where OEB 11gR2 was installed with the ‘apply’ option C:\product\oracle\11.2.0\db_1\Opatch\opatch.bat apply
- answer the question “Is the local system ready for patching? [y|n]” by typing y for ‘yes’ and press <enter>
- wait a while
- keep waiting (20-30 minutes)
- Oracle patch 9802120 has been installed, close this window (click X)
- install SAP Connector 2.1.9
- extract/browse to C:\SAP_JCo_2.1.9 and then click Extract
- Click Done
- close this window (click X)
- copy files librfc32.dll and sapjcorfc.dll from C:\SAP_JCo_2.1.9 to ORACLE_HOME \owb\bin and to ORACLE_HOME \owb\bin\admin- then copy file sapjco.jar from C:\SAP_JCo_2.1.9 to ORACLE_HOME\owb\lib\int
- set ORACLE_HOME back to what it was before Oracle patch 9802120 was installed
- click Advanced tab and then the Environment Variable button
- highlight ORACLE_HOME in the System variables pane and click the Edit button
- set ORACLE_HOME back to what it was before Oracle patch 9802120 was installed (there is no value in this example)
- then click Ok again
- then click Ok once more
- launch OWB Design Center to see if it works
- ignore this warning
- enter credentials (get credentials from an OWB developer if necessary), click Ok
- click Location tab, expand as follows, and open the SAP_QA_LOCATION1 (or any relevant location)
- click Test Connection (get credentials from an OWB developer if necessary)
VERY IMPORTANT:- if there are issues with multiple Oracle Homes (ie. other Oracle applications have stopped working properly), add a StringValue key called TNS_ADMIN to the Registry for KEY_OWB11gR2_home1 defining the appropriate home where tnsnames.ora resides. See sample entry below: + run regedit + drill down to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE + right click on KEY_OWB11gR2_home1, choose New->StringValue - enter TNS_ADMIN as the key name - right click TNS_ADMIN in the right pane, choose Modify - enter the home to be used (eg. C:\oracle\ora92\network\ADMIN) where tnsnames.ora is located
