2.0 Facilities Information Services Online Web Library (OWL) can be accessed through the following web address: http://library.cpc-fis.vanderbilt.edu Logging into OWL is easy. Once you access the website, as indicated above, you will see this screen:

Once your account has been set up in the system, you will establish your own password. To do that, you will select ‘FORGOT PASSWORD?’ from the menu above. An email will be sent to you with a link. You will use this same procedure if you have forgotten your password or are unable to log in. When you select that link, you will be able to establish your own password.

Now, you can return to the LOGIN SCREEN and continue as follows. Once logged in, you should see the screen below.

FACILITY and NON-FACILITY Search The FACILITY search allows you to view information by Facility Name and Facility ID. A NON-FACILITY search allows you to view information from many different categories that are not building related. Typically, a Non-Facility category is a project that is not related to the construction of a facility. However, it may be related to multiple facilities. An example of a Non-Facility is a utility or infrastructure project that pertains to multiple buildings. When you select a field under FACILITY or NON-FACILITY, you will see the following screen:

Within each FACILITY or category of NON-FACILITY (facility search example: Admissions and Financial Aid) you can either view the information on the screen by selecting the link, or you can generate a report by selecting the Adobe PDF

Furthermore, by selecting the Adobe PDF below the picture, you will display the full DOCUMENT REPORT for your facility of interest. By selecting the Adobe PDF beside each category, you are able to isolate the information by category. The FACILITY search list displays the Vanderbilt facilities in 3 categories and in alphabetical order. Active Facilities, facilities owned by or leased to Vanderbilt, can be found at the beginning of the FACILITY list. Archived facilities, facilities that have been razed or are no longer owned by Vanderbilt University, can be found in the middle of the FACILITY list. Proposed facilities can be found at the end of the FACILITY list. In each FACILITY search, you will find a picture of the facility located to the right, as illustrated below for Alumni Hall:

When you select the link “Show more information about this facility” located below the picture (as shown in the image above), you will find facility related information, see the illustration below for Alumni Hall:

Listed below each search will be 3 categories of information for projects: Active Construction Projects, Completed Projects, and Offsite Documents.

Active Construction Projects (Reference Only – project related information, may not include drawings) 

By selecting the link , you will view information on various projects.

By selecting any text on the line within a project you will see a list of records. These records may or may not have viewable images within this section.

 Construction Document Library 

By selecting the link , you will view information on archived projects.

By selecting any text on the line of a project, you will see a list of records associated with the project.

Select any text on the line to view a record with an image. This will enable you to view/print the record.  

Offsite Documentation (Reference Only – O&M manuals, Project Manuals, and other project related documents that may or may not be viewable) 

By selecting the link , you will view information on archived projects. By selecting any text on the line within a project you will see a list of records. These records may or may not have viewable images within this section.

 ADVANCED SEARCH  The search function can be used to find specific documents based on the information you provide. Select the “Show more options” listed below the Facility/Non-Facility search boxes.

The OWL search engine should now be displayed. See image below.

For example: You are looking for electrical drawings for Alumni Hall. You would select the following:

Facility: ALUMNI HALL Document Discipline: Electrical

All documents in Alumni Hall with ‘Electrical’ as the document discipline will be provided. You may then use other information provided (i.e. dates, descriptions, author, etc.) to find the image you need. RESULT LIST Result List will list all documents in the Facilities library, or will list the results of your search.
