POSITION DESCRIPTION Position: Director of Communications & Administration Status & Salary: Full-time salaried; $40K-$50K salary range Role: The Director of Communications & Administration ensures the smooth operation and functioning of IFA by overseeing a part-time office manager and bookkeeper who manages IFA’s accounts, finances, and compliance with reporting requirements. Manages IFA’s public statements and brand. Manages IFA’s website and social media. Excels at written and visual communication. Duties and Functions: 1) Oversees a part time Office Manager & Bookkeeper who manages and maintains IFA’s bank accounts, processes income and pays invoices, processes payroll, manages timesheets, manages equipment and handles IT issues. 2) Ensures that the Executive Director and Treasurer of the Board are updated regularly on the organization’s financial picture with balance sheets and profit-and-loss statements run through QuickBooks. 3) Works with Office Manager & Bookkeeper to ensures that IFA is meeting all requirements for reporting applicable to nonprofit corporations, including state and federal tax returns, lobbying reports, nonprofit corporation reports, etc. 4) Advances IFA’s public image as a credible advocate for the restoration of Indiana’s forest ecosystem and responsible management of Indiana’s public lands to conserve the state’s wild heritage. 5) Working with policy staff, produces public statements of IFA’s views on forest issues, and crafts alerts to IFA’s membership. 6) Drafts news releases and works with staff to arrange coverage in the news media. 7) Manages IFA’s website, solicits blog posts, produces electronic newsletters on a platform called NationBuilder. Coordinates production of print newsletters 8) Manages social media accounts including Facebook, Twitter & Instagram; facilitates active discussion of IFA’s advocacy and campaigns on these platforms. Analyzes effectiveness of social media campaigns. Handles advertising on these platforms. 9) Manages and ads to IFA’s photo archive; shoots simple videos. 10) Working with the Development Director, copy edits grant proposals and coordinates production of print and electronic appeals for funds, as well as other marketing and fundraising materials, including production of T-shirts and other branded items. 11) Assists in planning and marketing events that generate a public profile for IFA.

12) Designs or liaisons with graphic designers; writes compelling content. Skills, Education & Qualities: Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, humanities, ecology, public policy or business required. At least 3-4 years of work experience required. The ideal candidate will be familiar with QuickBooks, WordPress, PhotoShop, Canva, InDesign, SEO and GoodleAds. The candidate will be results-oriented, creative, and passionate about environment advocacy -- with excellent writing and editing skills – with an understanding of how non-profits operate.
